You said it! I can relate to about 90% of that list. I can see a lot of the same rules apply to the entire Southwest, like learning how to make Mexican food. My mom never did learn, so I would just eat at all of my friends' houses as a kid. (Thankfully, my wife is a master at making Mexican food!) I lived in Universal City and remember stores like Woolco and Handy Dan in the area, along with "Lone Star" convenience stores. Does SA still have those? There was also a drive-in nearby, where I saw the original Star Wars movie back in 1977.

Damn, I'm getting old. :oops

I grew up across San Pedro (before it was McAllister Fwy) from the San Pedro drive inn.

Heading to Pappy's and drinking beer in the BAC parking lot on weekends.

The ponds (now hole #3 at Silverhorn)

Fargo's Pizza (I used to deliver for them)

Encino Park being way the hell out of town.

The circles (now Stone Oak)

The cliffs at Vista Del Norte.

Texas dancehall.

TG&Y

Flakey Leonards

That pizza joint in Central Park Mall (I can't remember the name)

Aladdin's Castle and the little pizza place across from Aladdin's Castle.

Which one? I used to hang out in the one at Ingram Mall. I think Windsor had it as well. At Ingram, it was Luca's Pizza next to Aladdin's with the Movie theatre across from them. The pizza place moved to the food court when it opened and they changed their name from Luca's to Villa Italia or something.

There is a Pizza Inn in Fair Oaks but that is about it. I still, somewhere, have one of those 70's beer goblets from Pizza Inn.
