I've noticed a lot more of the casual fans taking notice. Any of you guys notice the same thing?

The Knicks are relevant again... that's huge for the NBA.

Yes, cause i'm one of them. I never really was into the NBA, but this season, i've followed the Spurs/Bulls very closely watching most of their games.

Yeah, but the Knicks aren't the reason the NBA is getting more popular. There are a ton of new young stud players (Wall, Griffin, etc.) that have given popularity to teams that didn't have any. The super teams have also helped.

More big market teams are relevant again plus a bunch of young stars are emerging/have emerged in the past few years.

The Bulls being very relevant and having a MVP contender in Rose is helping as well.

Just people prepping for no Football, which seems more likely than no Basketball.

I disagree, Berney. In the NFL it's something as simple as players vs. owners. In the NBA the owners can't even agree amongst themselves. I full season lockout in the NBA wouldn't surprise me next year.

It's relevant again because the NBA is probably going to go on strike and some people are finally seeing how watered down the NBA is.

The NBA is at it's highest peak in a long time, this season..there are 6 legit elite teams, none of them are at a much higher level than the other..barring injuries, this will be the most competitive Semi-Finals in both conferences(combined), in a long time..this leads to entertaining and competitive basketball, which obviously leads to viewers..

Then you add Carmelo moving to the Knicks and their potential future + all the action at the trade deadline, and you have a very entertaining league..

The NBA continues to tap specifically oriented markets for more customers.

For a big market NBA team like the Knicks, Bulls, Celtics, or Lakers, all it takes to be "relevant" is having a big name player like Melo and making the playoffs. They don't need to actually be true championship threats because the media can easily build them up for the general public that doesn't pay attention for long stretches of the regular season.
