I think LA will win this game.

Have the Lakers won on ABC this season? I am not certain they have. It should be a good game though, OKC doesn't have Perkins, Green, or Kyrstic, but someone has to get the minutes.
I say it could go either way.
Andrew Cunanan

Russell Westbrook will score 30+ points and get a triple-double. I guarantee it.
Budkin
02-27-2011, 01:05 PM
Without or without Perkins this is going to be a tough game for LA. OKC is coming home after back to back losses against good teams. Friday night they got curb stomped by the Magic. Expect them to play very very well.

Depends on how many FT KD and RW get combined... if it's close to 40, then they'll probably win... otherwise, the Lakeshow should win...

A few things.
1. OKC is probably mad after losing 2 straight & getting their asses kicked on Friday.
2. LA has trouble with really quick teams so look for OKC to run like they're being chased by the police.
3. LA needs to feed their bigs a lot so Pau & Bynum need to go hard, especially Pau.
4. The Lakers seem to enjoy embarrassing themselves on early ABC games.
5. Artest can't pick up 2 quick fouls guarding Durant. (Luke Walton makes me fuckin cringe, same with Shannon Brown lately.)
Outcome. LA either wins by a few or loses by 15-20. They dont like losing by a few, it has to be in double digits haha.

OKC doesn't really need Perkins for offense. They have enough black holes on that team already. They really just need his presence in the paint for toughness and rebounding. The Lakers have murdered OKC's undersized frontline the entire game. That's the only reason they're even in this game.

Big win for the Lakers. Keeps them on the Mavs heel and separates them from the Thunder.
Bad loss for the Thunder. Not only do they lose ground for the Lakers, the Whorenets are close to catching them.

They did a great job the whole second half. They were able to really lock down inside because OKC couldn't hit a jumper and wouldn't push the pace.

The Thunder are completely overrated. How many good teams have they actually beaten this season?
this
Mavs played in the last game a lot of zone and "almost MVP" Westbrook had the whole 4th quarter no clue what to do and killed the offense.
Against Kidd, Terry, Barea...

Trading for an injured player probably wasn't the greatest idea.

You need superstars and veteran talent. Two things the Lakers have in droves.

Right now they would play the Whorenets in the 1st round which they are 3-1 against this season. Probably the Spurs in the 2nd round.

Schedule is tough for you guys down the stretch. I think 5 is definitely a possibility, but the Whorenets have a much easier schedule and Okafor and Landry have joined the team, plus if they beat Portland in the final meeting at NOLA, it gives them the tiebreaker.
Wallace and Roy are nice backups to have.

We're tied with NOLA in the loss column and the Hornets have not been playing well lately. I think we pass them.

And that's why the Thunder are still a year or so away, even taking into consideration they were without Perkins.
The way you beat LA is attacking in transition and not letting their length take over in the half court. The Thunder were content to wait for the troops and not attack in transition late, which allowed LA to do what they do best - play in the half court.
But they also need better floor generalship, whether that means Westbrook continues to grow or a savvy playmaker has to be added. ... And Durant is too good to be that ineffective.
He's either going to get it with a little more time and experience or the talk's going to start about how he's just not that kind of player . . .

True, but Okafor is back and the Whorenets have won their first two games after the break pretty easily and Landry gives them a strong backup in the frontcourt. Plus, their schedule is much easier than Portland's in the 2nd half and if they beat Portland in NOLA in the final meeting, it gives them the tiebreaker. Okafor may be the most important player on that team.
The key will be CP3. If he can get back to form, then the Whorenets will stay ahead of Portland and maybe pass OKC.

The body contact was after the block, which is why they didn't call it. What's surprising is Jeff Van Gundy didn't complain about it more. He would have if it had been going the other direction. He seems to love OKC for some reason.
This is ssooooooo hypocritical that it ain't even funny. If that were Durant, KG, D-Whistle, LeHype or anybody that wasn't accused of raping a white girl it would have been a flagrant.

Yes. You attack your opponents weaknesses and exploit your strengths.
Pretty easy concept.
The Lakers were pretty good before Shaq came to town. They did some stuff. They even had a nickname.

kind suprised westbrook just didnt do a thing in the second half. i knew scrubs like cook had to come down to earth and the thunder couldnt keep up their 61% pace but westbrook just didnt bother shooting. they blew a great opportunity. the refs were prepared to let anything go against kobe, making it an easy game or the thunder to steal.

That's part of the problem I had with Westbrook. He ain't gonna run the show like a true point and his strengths offensively are almost all in early offense and in transition. He shoots his jumper better in rhythm in transition and his athleticism is freakish when in transition.
But true to what's been form, instead of attacking in transition, hitting the seams or taking his best shots, he was pulling the ball back out and waiting to run sets in the halfcourt. That shit ain't gonna fly against that kind of length.
But that's what young teams and players do. Game gets tight, they need a bucket and they start squeezing the ball and trying to be perfect. No mistakes, one good shot and let the chips fall where they may.
You gotta be you down the stretch. Take your shots and play to your strengths. You can't start playing away from your strengths or not to lose.
That's why they're still a year or two or more away . . .

Surprised? It's what Westbrook does. He's gone off in ALOT of 1st halves of games this season and then totally dissapeared in the 2nd half of those games...

Yup. And they had the one player in the history of the NBA that could do that successfully in Earvin Magic Johnson.
Not to mention a dynamite half court set with Kareem in the low post and Worthy in the high post.
Very comparable to the teams of today. Brilliant comparison.
