The Knicks are going to need some time to put it together, so the Heat should definitely win this one.

Agreed and considering how their defense played out against two of the worst offensive teams in the league , we should score at will .

The Knicks just lost to Cleveland, they're probably pissed off but they'll probably still lose by 15 haha. Amare & melo are gonna have to score 30 each if they wanna even keep it close.

hitmanyr2k
02-27-2011, 09:17 PM
The Heat have MAJOR problems when they don't get out and run. This is a carbon copy of what happened with the Bulls. Miami has the athletes to get out and run on any team but when that running game grinds to a halt their offense flutters in the half court even with Lebron and Wade's offensive capabilities. Their offense just has no structure to it.

HarlemHeat37
02-27-2011, 09:20 PM
Spoelstra is one of the worst coaches in the NBA, which is what we've been saying since the first few weeks of the season, while non-Heat fans were blaming the players..if the Heat are going to win the title this year, it's gonna be strictly on talent and in spite of the coach..

I thought he would be fine(although I didn't follow Miami much last year), but he seems overwhelmed by this..

Killakobe81

Lebron is the PG no use even pretending like Chalmers matters he playes less PG than Dfish does for the Lakers Lebron controls and initiates most of the offense ...

j.dizzle
02-27-2011, 10:14 PM
Miami's offense is funny to watch. Nobody on the team can post up but Wade so its nothing but a bunch of guys chilling outside the 3 point line waiting to shoot. Bosh is a pussy, he doesnt bring much for being a "superstar"

HarlemHeat37

We fucking suck i swear to god how do you let the game go like this ?

Miami coasts way too much, that's a major issue..Lebron has been coasting all season(shooting too many jump shots and being a facilitator), Wade doesn't play D half the time..the team takes too many stupid jump shots and have too many turnovers, yet they never take any responsibility or look like they care..

Every game looks like they're playing after partying too much the previous night..hopefully, they start giving a consistent effort and play smart basketball during the playoffs..

:lol Ignoring what I am saying and refusing to look at circumstantial evidence.

I would rather have Amare. I used to think Bosh, but now I would want Amare. My point always was (even when I liked Bosh more) that no matter who you like, the gap is not a significant one.

Lebron has been horrible in clutch time this season, he's usually the best in the NBA, I don't really know what his issue is this season..

Wade needs to get the ball in clutch time more, it seems like the Heat go to everybody except him now..

Pathetic loss for the Heat, strictly an effort issue, they should have won by 20+ with the way both teams played in the 1st half..too much coasting, hopefully this is a wake-up call..

DPG21920

I am not rooting against the heat I just like seeing playoff type basketball ...

I no longer care about HCA we cant catch SA anyway we have to win on road regardless ...

Well I hope abbott hollinger and whomever else says Lebron is more clutch than kobe is watching this. Lebron is more dominant than kobe but clutch ...not so sure at least not the last 3 national TV games I have seen from the heat.

Melo gets mad props for asking for Lebron.
Chauncey was clutch amare played good defense on Bosh (late) too ...

Well I hope abbott hollinger and whomever else says Lebron is more clutch than kobe is watching this. Lebron is more dominant than kobe but clutch ...not so sure at least not the last 3 national TV games I have seen from the heat.

Melo gets mad props for asking for Lebron.

I think Lebron is overrated. Yeah, he has talent - but he's lazy and lacks discipline. And living in Miami with it's "party all the time" atmosphere is like a drug to him. I think it's really going to affect his game.

I have agreed with that point overall and have argued there are tiers of players. Obviously, there is a "max money" tier of player. Now within that tier you will get varying return on investment. A guy like Lebron or Kobe will obviously be the best. Then a guy like Bosh will be at the bottom of that.

I just disagree that Amare is even in that tier. I think he is on the outside looking in.

Knicks aren't as good as they showed tonight..they played like it was game 7, while Miami was coasting, which was evident by the shot selection and attitude from both teams..Knicks will take a while to be a consistent team IMO..

Miami's coasting problem might not be solved until they get a new coach, unfortunately..the only reason the Heat will have a chance this year, is because the other elite teams are all flawed and old..

The Heat's big 3 is significantly better than New York's..Miami had a size advantage, they had better role players, yet they were still only able to put up 80-something points against the Knicks defense..that's on the coach..

Yeah, 3 for 9 with 2 TOs is clutch when "you need to be."

This is the problem with you Kobe fans. You reduce a whole game or quarter down to one moment when Kobe makes a big play, while ignoring his previous missteps.

Despite what the media tells you and what you believe, there is no such thing as "when it matters." The whole game matters, from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

But I see no difference in "clutchness" between a player who comes up big in the 1st quarter and one who comes up big in the 4th. People place more value on the 4th because that's when the game is drawing to a close, so every moment will be naturally be filled with tension, but it's a false perception.

A big lead after the 1st quarter is often enough to lead a team to winning the game.

Completely disagree. Game is 0-0 and you hit the two. Your down one and hit the shot at the buzzer for the 100-99 win. While they most certainly count for the same 2 points, neither the opposition or your own team has the chance to recover in the latter scenario therfore making the shot "matter" much more.

Couldn't agree more. A lot of laker fans do this when they take digs at Shaq for needing a go to scorer in the closing minutes of games because of his free throw shooting deficiencies. Of course if Shaq hadn't dominated the first 46 minutes of the game the Lakers never would have made it out of the first round during their threepeat.

Yeah, but if that player hit a shot earlier in the game, that "clutch" scenario never has the opportunity to exist.

In hindsight, that missed shot "mattered" just as much as the game winning shot.

Of course if Shaq hadn't dominated the first 46 minutes of the game the Lakers never would have made it out of the first round during their threepeat.

Of course Shaq was dominant who says he wasn't? But those lats 2 mins seperates him from MJ, Kobe, duncan, Bird. not only did he suck at FT's but he did not have a clutch go to move late like the sky hook. or tim's banker ...

To an extent. What a player does in the first quarter doesn't matter when the game is on the line, with a minute left in the fourth. How many times have we seen clutch players, in all sports, suck at the beginning of games, but turn it on when the game is on the line and deliver? No one remembers the first quarter during a close game late in the fourth.

true but the pressure (though mental), fatigue and the outcome does creat "clutch moments" it's not manufactured ...it's real. Maybe overly hyped but it does exist any true competitor will tell you that.

True

All the factors you mention lead to a more focused state

In a basketball game, no one moment is isolated from the next. For your premise to work, the preceding events can't influence the succeeding events in a game. And we know that's not the case. Every event in a game influences the next one until the conclusion. The player "sucking" at the beginning of the game is the reason there's a "clutch" situation at the end of the game. If he plays well at the beginning, the team avoids the chance of losing the game at the end.

Now if you're talking about a player who his good during the regular season, but great in the playoffs, then that is indeed a "clutch" player, since the regular and post-season are isolated from each other.

This statement proves to the universe without a shadow of a doubt that you rarely, if ever get laid. Anyone can meet a woman, but can you peel those panties off during crunch time? You see, me, I'm a fourth quarter player. I'm batting like .987 when it comes to closing deals... I'm a Closer. You're the type of guy that goes out and you can meet a chic, mainly because you probably break yourself buying strange chics drinks, but you never get to sniff those panties, and it's solely due to your false logic.

PM me lil homie, and If I don't get you laid by the weekend, I'll give you one of my lil doo-dollies... free of charge.

False analogy.

In theory all of this makes sense. Problem is when you suck in the 1st quarter you have 3 other quarters to make up for it. Yes of course if you play well you can end a game in the first ...but as the heat found out ...as good as they played in the first quarter the 4th mattered so much more. Because when they struggled in those last few mins. there is no time to make that up.

If end of games didnt matter in sports so much why do coaches manage the clock. Why do teams work plays to get the ball to their "clutch" players. hitting tough shots beating a double team are all factors that matter in clutch play. Shaq is great Rondo too to a less degree and i love their play for 42 minutes but I dont trust eiither with under 6 mins to go ...and that is a stain on their resume ..period. Kobe quit against phoenix, Mj gambled and punched kerr, Neal raped (sorry couldnt resist), pip sat out on the Kukoc game winner. Great players have flaws no one is perfect.

Pointing out shaq not being clutch or Kobe's poor shot selection does not mean that they are not great. But if you tell the WHOLE story it matters ...
