The Spurs just need Duncan to step it up, he's been half-assing it all season so far (and rightfully so).

Some people here seem to think we are a one man team like Dallas but I don't think so. We will probably lose a couple of games because of this but keep the 1st seed. I didn't expect the big 3 to stay healthy all season and this is normal and no big deal.

And this means more minutes for Anderson.

Those of you thinking the Spurs lead is just going to evaporate have no idea how big of a lead the Spurs have with so few games remaining.This.
This is why we are so fortunate to have such a big lead. We have a good lead, and we have depth, we are prepared for this. Spurs will be fine. George Hill will step up, and we will focus on playing more defense then offense. We'll play at a slower more controlled pace, and we won't be looking to score a 110+ points.
Neal is back, Anderson is back, Bonner is back to knocking down everything, we have incredible depth. We got this. Manu will step up, Timmy will step up and RJ will step up. Even with TP, we are still a damn good team. And we aren't going to loose this #1 seed.
I'm only worried about two things. That Tony comes back when he isn't fully ready, which I doubt will happen because Pop never brings back players when they aren't ready, especially with the Playoffs around the corner. Look how long it took just to get James Anderson just to get some minutes again.
And I'm worried about Pop playing Manu way too much. I'm scared we're gonna start seeing Manu play 38+ minutes again or something. I don't want him to wear him out with the Playoffs coming. We need are roleplayers to step up, not for Manu to feel he has to carry everyone. I just want everything to be calm and controlled. We got this.

Buck Harvey: Popovich ready for what he saw coming
About six weeks ago, asked yet again to explain the Spurs’ remarkable record, Gregg Popovich came up with another answer.
Maybe the other teams are the lucky ones, not the Spurs. “They’ve got (injuries) now,” Popovich said then. “And maybe we’re going to get it on April 2 or March 15.”
He was wrong, but only by a few weeks.
That’s Popovich. He’s always thought there’s nothing worse than a 20-point lead in the second quarter, because the game is never that easy. He waits for bad news, as if it’s written somewhere on the schedule, and this approach is an advantage for the Spurs as they go forward for a while without Tony Parker.
Their coach works well with NBA reality.
Popovich might not have to work without Parker for long. The Spurs’ official release put his return at two-to-four weeks, but those within the franchise think it might be under two.

That's some good news. If he come back on March 18th for the game against Mavs, he would have missed only 8 games.

Not a chance. Even though he probably could play by then, in typical Spurs fashion I'm sure he'll be held out at least an extra week, then worked back in at a snail's pace.

i take back saying we'd be able to maintain the lead while TP is out. by the time TP gets back, the lead will be around 1-2 games over Dallas and will be extremely difficult to keep it the rest of the way.

remember all the fucking idiots that wanted TP traded at the beginning of the season? yeah fuck you. this fanbase and town completely under-appreciates what TP does on the court. he can create a shot whenever he wants and get to the hoop with the best of them.

My opinion hasn't changed..
I actually think there's a good chance that the Spurs would have lost this game either way, even with Parker..
If the Spurs can take care of Cleveland, Detroit and Sacramento, they would be at 3-3(assuming they lost to the good teams), with a winnable game @ Houston..that would be an acceptable pace until TP returns..

I would be worried about losing the lead to the Mavs but they just lost a huge part of their team in Tyson Chandler. Injuries suck balls.

I honestly didn't think the Spurs were as fragile as all this with their winning and spreading the scoring among so many players.
But I am seeing that not only the absence of a CONSISTENT defense is very troubling, but also equally troubling is if one of either TP or Manu goes down with an injury in the playoffs.
So we have a fragile offense as well as an inconsistent defense.
Neither bodes well for a championship this year despite the gaudy record.

You're a fucking moron. The idea was to trade him for other valuable pieces. Not to trade him for nothing. Which is the equivalent of the injury.
You won't find one quote that said "George Hill can fill his shoes." So don't fucking quote it. Did you actually read any of the "trade TP" threads or did you just read the titles?

Not if they lose Friday and Sunday coming up and Dallas wins two, that is not FINE IMO. They are 5 up now, that could be 2 by the weekends end and would mean with 19 left only up two! I know thats worst case, but it could happen and that would not be FINE :ihit:ihit:lol.
I am sorry to dampen the mood in there, that just came up in my head and only up 2 would be scary with one more head to head and Miami again on the 14th and Boston as well later! Man that schedule is horrible.

Is this true?
It seems like it always takes him forever to get back into top form.
Maybe he heals fast enough to get back to playing but unless he's near 100%, he can be pretty ineffective.
Maybe I'm wrong about his healing time but can anyone kawabarate this?

Theres no need to rush back Parker too soon. Why take the chance of TP reinjuring his calf and not be ready for the playoffs?

You don't really reinjure a bruise, but there's certainly no reason to rush Parker back.

If we lose both games and the Chokericks win two we are up 3.5 not 2. Again I don't think they'll get any closer than that.

If you have access to the video of that game, watch the last minute or so of the 1st quarter. It would seem that TP is already bothered by his calf. You'd see that he's already wrapping his lower-left calf area with a towel. It seemed as if he was icing it already at the time. The injury occurred in the 2nd quarter so we think, but it seems as if he was already affected prior...upon observation. It doesn't change the treatment, it just means that he was already somewhat affected.

The doom and gloom over Tony's injury is ridiculous. George Hill WILL step up as will the other bench players. We're not dropping to 3 or 4, that's crazy.
Neal, Anderson and Hill will all fill in as will Manu. Tony will get the rest he needs and be back sooner than later.
