For all the talk about the Spurs' health (it's overstated, as ElNono alluded to), you know who's been remarkably healthy, as usual? The Lakers. Funny how no one ever recognizes it, but since the return of Bynum, (who technically hasn't been injured this season, other than for one game, since him sitting out to start the season was based off of an injury that occurred the previous season) the only rotation player who's missed a game is Barnes, who's their 8th-9th man. Ratliff is an insurance policy and was basically replaced by Smith.

When will this old, broken down bunch begin to succumb to injury? At some point, their run of unprecedented luck in the history of North American professional sports has to come to an end.

doesn't even end with their team

they meet Boston in the FInals, down 3-2 and about to get eliminated, bam. Perkins goes down in the 1st quarter.

2009? KG injured, can't repeat

i am sure there is a longer list of this

I took a sneak peak at the standings. The Phoenix Suns are only 1 game (http://espn.go.com/nba/standings) out of the 8th spot. If that happens, there could be a rematch (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/sa/year/2010/seasontype/3/san-antonio-spurs) of last year's Semifinal matchup.

Maybe the Spurs should let the Lakers ease into that #1 spot. That way we can take care of the Suns for you guys. :lol

If the Mavs somehow get within 3 in the next week or so then we can start talking about the Spurs getting passed up. Until then, 5 games (8 for the Lakers) is still a decent lead.

even though that would be very nice...The Suns did have Amare last year so the 1st round Skunker for 2011 may not be....

"Buck Harvey: Popovich ready for what he saw coming
About six weeks ago, asked yet again to explain the Spurs’ remarkable record, Gregg Popovich came up with another answer.

Maybe the other teams are the lucky ones, not the Spurs. “They’ve got (injuries) now,” Popovich said then. “And maybe we’re going to get it on April 2 or March 15.”

He was wrong, but only by a few weeks.

That’s Popovich. He’s always thought there’s nothing worse than a 20-point lead in the second quarter, because the game is never that easy. He waits for bad news, as if it’s written somewhere on the schedule, and this approach is an advantage for the Spurs as they go forward for a while without Tony Parker.

Their coach works well with NBA reality.

Popovich might not have to work without Parker for long. The Spurs’ official release put his return at two-to-four weeks, but those within the franchise think it might be under two. "

:lol :lol

NBA = fucked
