House Republicans voted in lockstep this afternoon to protect corporate welfare for Big Oil, even as they call for draconian cuts to programs that everyday Americans depend on each day. As the House of Representatives moved toward approving a stopgap resolution to avert a government shutdown for another two weeks, Democrats offered a motion to recommit that would have stripped the five largest oil companies of taxpayer subsidies, saving tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer funds. The motion failed on a vote of 176-249, with all Republicans voting against (approximately a dozen Democrats joined the GOP)

VRWC is full-frontal assault, and you assholes think "deficit" is the overwhelming priority.

does anyone know how much these guys pay in corporate taxes?

boutons_deux

no, but many sources show that corporate taxes as percentage of total Fed tax income has declined dramatically. Tax evasion, tax avoidance, etc, etc.

If a Human-American gets caught at those tactics, fines and maybe jail.

A Corporate-American gets caught? Discuss it for years, and then a wrist slap "settlement".

More uncuttable spending, pandering to the fat-ass southern bubbas.

Something GOP doesn't want to cut: Funding for NASCAR

racetrack owners received tax breaks worth $45 million in 2010 and 2011, aimed at helping them make improvements to their facilities. A two-year extension of the program was included in the tax cuts compromise that President Barack Obama forged with Congress in December.

Your incongruence filter is backed up, boutons. Better change it or you'll be doing stupid shit like:

Screaming like a mashed cat when congress gives 45 million in tax cuts to NASCAR whilst simultaneously cheerleading for 100 billion Fed hand out for battery research.

Enjoy the delicious sauce.

Someone remind me, what happened when the democrats proposed to take away big oil subsidies back when they had a supermajority?

Presumably the "VRWC" and us "assholes" (at this point apparently everyone who disagrees with the resident mental patient) used our mind control powers to prevent a repeal.

$45M for NASCAR is subsidizing bubba show biz.

$100B for battery/storage research is strategically critical to reducing dependence on (foreign) oil.

As always, your equivalence is bullshit.

lol at your fear of bubbas.:lmao

fear? Maybe just a little pity for being on the bottom of UCA

The Army suckers the uneducated, unemployed bubbas, blacks, browns into their bullshit wars. That's why the Army wants to keep wasting money on NASCAR.

The democrats had supermajority? When?

But besides the fact that they didn't, it's not like Big Oil doesn't stuff those pockets too. They just do it less than the GOP.

Didn't they have one between January 2009 and whenever Scott Brown replaced Ted Kennedy? Even if they didn't, their odds of actually getting the subsidies repealed where a hell of a lot better than they are now.

democrats = republicans = like subsidies for big oil

The only difference is democrats are embarrassed to admit it. That's why they only try to take oil subsidies away when they don't have the muscle to actually accomplish it.

They had one between January 2009 and whenever Scott Brown replaced Ted Kennedy.

They didn't. They could only munster 60 votes counting two Independents...

One of those two Independents was a featured speaker at the Republican Convention. Another member of the fabled 60 was a five-term Republican senator from Pennsylvania that switched parties fearing a primary challenge.

Ultimately, the reason that the GOP was so successful with their filibuster blocking measures makes patently clear that the Democrats never had a filibuster-proof supermajority.

"democrats = republicans = "

... must have corporate money to (re-)win elections. Corporations own legislatures at all levels. Corporations get the tax breaks, subsidies, etc, etc that they pay for, and the ROI is many 100%s. Buying Congresscritters is cheap compared to the $100Bs they give away to corps.

Barry's Dems never had a super majority in anything but name only, with Blue Dog Dems like Ben "Horse's Ass" Nelson voting against the Dems in nearly every big legislation.

Just monkeying around with it a bit, there appears to be some correlation between recipients of a particular PAC and their location...ie lots of oil money goes to oil producing states. Lots of Pharma money goes to states with big pharma plants. Figures, I guess.

Unfortunately sites like that will become fairly useless now that there's no need to disclose campaign contributions.
