The spurs should make a late hard pitch for Al Thornton and if it doesn't work out, then at least they tried everything to make their team better.

Mavs spending well over the cap to win a title. How much will the championship cost if they win this year?

the answer is undefined. kind of like when you divide by zero. it doesn't exist; impossible. the Mavs are bound by the laws of mathematics not to win a chip.

The Spurs fail to pay the MLE for a 6 and 3 guy. The sky is falling.

This makes me so angry. Team likes the Mav & Lakers (with deep pocket) continue to spend money like crazy. This is so unfair to the Spurs.

Yeah, if only the Spurs made big trades all the time and were routinely deep into the luxury tax, giving them big names to be able to move and the occasional ability to overpay for other team's throwaway players to complete their starting lineup ... well, they'd be in Seattle, but still.

Sorry ass dallas is five games behind the Spurs, and they can offer him a starting job and more money.

The Mavs are among the NBA's 6 best teams. It's really not as hard a sell as you might think.

It may be a blessing in disguise for the Spurs, but at this early stage, I don't see it.
However, things usually turn out for the best for the Spurs, 4 championship trophies best.
Maybe it will happen again.
And maybe they draft that long intelligent defensive lock down stopper this year, one who also has a good offensive game as well, who knows?
At this point all I care about is that we get further than the Mavs do this year.

Typical Mavs trying to piece it all together on the fly, just chasing the Spurs' wind. False hope for the Mavs.

Top 10 Ways Mark Cuban gets guys to come to sorry ass Dallas

10. Hookers in the locker room
9. Dirk in the locker room, for anyone who rolls that way
8. Guest appearances on Walker Texas Ranger
7. Free off-season grief counselling
6. Lots of room in rafters for players who hope to get their jersey retired
5. Having sex with a minor is a misdemeanor in Dallas, as long as you don't give them alcohol
4. The pen used at signing is also a cool laser pointer
3. Unlimited supply of "Kiss me I'm Cuban" buttons and bumper stickers
2. Complimentary ice cream at all Dallas DQ's (Just say Marc sent you.)

I just wish the Spurs would play CONSISTENT above average defense!
The I wouldn't care about who comes here or not, and I would feel a whole lot more confident that our record isn't fools gold, that we really had a chance at the championship this year.

Its sad to be a german Spurs fan.
No NBA on free TV.
Everyone around you is rooting for Dirk.
And the saddest part: You cant even blame them for it, coz Dirk is a class act!

Whatever...

So the Mavs have one more guy, that can defend Kobe in the Western semies?
Nice! After all I'm worried about the Lakers and not the Mavs!

I was born in Dallas, but have also lived in Houston and, briefly, Austin.

Texas loyalty makes it possible. It's not like, say, a Spurs and Lakers fan, or Lakers and Celtics fan - now that would be quite impossible.

The Spurs are in my blood - I identify more with the Spurs - but support the Mavs as my second choice, out of geographic loyalty. I also am a diehard Cowboys fan, and support the Rangers and Stars.

Typically, I root for the Spurs as long as they last in the playoffs, and if the Mavs are around after the Spurs are gone, then I root for the Mavs until they're gone too. When the Mavs ousted the Spurs in 2006 in the WCSF, I was disappointed - wanted San Antonio to win back-to-back titles - but then rooted for Dallas the rest of the way as the second-best alternative. It was bitter to see Miami win, with the ref's help....I sure wanted to see Shaq lose and see the Mavs end their long drought.

I know you a troll and all, but no...that wasnt bitter. Seeing the Mavs grasp defeat from the jaws of victory during that Finals was awesome tbh.

I actually feel sorry for Brewer. What he will be with the Mavs and what he could have been with the Spurs is the difference from being a career backup to a first team defensive specialist. He will never get to play defense to the level of excellence that would have happened here in a Dallas based system. The only thing he will learn from the Mavs is the fine art of whining.

I was a fan of both before Cuban came along, and now just root for Dirk. Of course, it's easy to root for two teams when one of them stinks and is never a threat. :)

I think both Duncan and Nowitzki deserve to go out on top with championship rings; 5th and 1st respectively.

The Duncan window is closing more quickly, so I would ideally like to see Duncan get fifth and then Nowitzki have one of his own at last.
