Pubs and Demons alike.
Any of these offered to help the U.S.A. budget out by taking a pay cut?

The closest has been some freshmen not using the Congressional health insurance. Very ballsy. One guy even had hard time finding for-profit-gouging insurance because of a medical problem. Welcome to Real America.

That would be a hollow symbolic gesture.

Considering their real profit streams, the same could be said of their salaries.

To avoid "grandstanding" on the the issue annually or bi-annually, Congress voted themselves automatic pay raises. Up to $174K/year now.
OP, apparently Congress, always sympathetic to the plight of Human-Americans, skipped the automatic pay raise for 2010.

Exactly. To see them actually "do as they say they do" instead of "do as i say, not as i do" would be a refreshing rarity for politicos.

My friend Lyle Larson, State Rep for District 122 never took a salary as County Commisshioner and doesn't take a salary as state rep.

State reps don't actually do much of anything in Texas, so they don't get paid much of anything.
I don't think turning down $7200 for a few weeks' work every two years is much to brag about.

I'd rather they work harder to regulate those streams instead of distracting the populace with a PR stunt.

That would be like telling Liberace he'd have more success trying to be like Bill Evans. Evans died a penny-less, tooth-less jazz saint. Liberace died shit-eating rich and is still a household name (even if it's derisively).
