Sounds about right, but I'm hard-pressed to come up with the John Tesh thing. Could you hum a few bars?

It was the main theme for the NBA on NBC.

Drums, horns, guitar.

Ok, found a link to download the theme:

Of course! I didn't know John Tesh wrote that theme. I picture him playing romantic music on the piano.
Yeah! I loved that theme. That meant the NBA broadcast was about to start. You're right about ABC - it sucks big time. Back in the day, ABC's Wide World of Sports was big - and good! I don't like the NBA coverage by this bunch. I love the TNT group, but mostly the half-time and post-game shows with Magic, Jet, Ernie and Sir Charles.
Da da dum dee dee dum dee dee dum, dee dee dum dee dum dee dee dum...
(I'm humming a few bars of the NBA on NBC theme)... :smokin

Jordan for 3! Yes! Those were the days. ABC hasn't even got close to the coverage and theme songs that NBC had.

I wonder what it would take to play that theme at the beginning of Spurs' home games? Think it would thrill more than a few fans. I'm getting real tired of the hip-hop, arena rock that you hear in every venue. This would be a real sensation!

While I'm at it, does anybody else want to hear something new at the games? The theme from the Addams Family is really stale - so is that goofy "If you're happy and you know it." The pre-attack music from all the great white shark movies is about to drive me mad. There must be something better out there.
Are all sports arenas plugged into the same inane music choices?

They can put it on fuckin Lifetime for all I care as long as they get rid of that tool Tom Tolbert. Just can't stand him. Yeah I hear ya though loved the NBA on NBC days.

Tom Tolbert is a horse's ass. I never could understand his creds. I'm sure I would have remembered him if he was up there with the players he routinely disses. He's such a jerk! Where did he come from and why have we been victimized by his so-called analysis?

One good thing about NBC losing it's rights was Peter Vecsey losing his television career.

Does the NBA tell the teams what music they can play?

Dramatic classical music like in football highlights of past superbowls would make sense for a theme song but more original. ABC hasn't tried to come up with anything good. They got a lame one on there.

Yeah! Classical jazz would be cool. A great number of years ago, jazzing up classical music was all the rage (I think a lot of it went disco), but it wasn't all that bad. I remember one piece called "A Fifth of Beethoven," which was a disco version of Beethoven's Fifth. Ludicrous tho it seems, I think it went to the top of the charts. And, now that I think of it, it had just the right amount of electricity in the first few chords to get fans on their feet and screaming:
"Dah - Dah - Dah - Dum!!!!" played by a full orchestra would sure get my attention.
I have to admit that I love "Dr. Who," and wouldn't like to see that replace anytime soon, though... :smokin

Does anyone else fucking loathe the rap/hip hop/ r & b shit that ABC sometimes plays? Usually with some girls booty dancing? ABC is such horseshit.

The NBA on NBC theme is definitely sweet. Reminds me of my childhood. Playing that before a Spurs game would be SWEET.

The name of the song is called "Roundball Rock" it actually has other subtunes when you hear the complete version.... For "some reason" the networks would only play a condensed loop version....
