I like his d. His offense is not bad for his first game as a Spur and no practice.

I'd keep him the rest of the season.

It was his first spurs game....you all need to relax. He was in there with the 3rd string so he tried to impress by shooting. That may not be the best strategy but he thought it was. It's only 1 game. I like his activity out there

irrelevant.

only a roster-completer. don't need him to hold this record, and if he even made the playoff roster he wouldn't play.

Don't misunderstand what I'm about to say, but he's got hands like MJ.

Definitely gonna have a similar career.

Fuck him. Take that damn jersey off.

And this.

It's a disgrace that Avery is in the rafters, yet Bruce has this scrub in his jersey.

I thought it was one of the stupidest performances I've ever seen in a Spurs jersey. I don't care if it is garbage time, standing around and watching guys shoot uncontested shots? It's the Spurs, bonehead. That's Greg Popovich on the bench.

If he really wants to make an NBA team, he should have been hustling his ass off defending. Even if he's no good at it, he should have been hustling. He looked like the guys in the rookie-sophomore game.

jeffers seems to have pretty good instinct on both ends of the floor, good rebounder but a bit undersized to play the 3...not sure if he is what the spurs need tho.

So, lemme get this straight . . . you guys hate this kid because he's wearing #12?! That's on Pop to be honest. Your anger is completely misdirected.

Defensively he was not good at all. I chalk it up to not being familiar with the defensive rotations. I liked his energy on the offensive end.

This..

if his D is as good as they say it is, we saw that he isn't really a liability on offense so i got no problem with the guy.

so, Pop is allowing it or Pop is suggesting it? I'd only find the latter feasible if Pop was trying to be humorous - either way Bruce will get his jersey in the rafters, but it's going to take a little while for Pop's ego to simmer down before it happens. Even with Avery's tenure at the little D, I'd guess he has a better rapport with Pop than Bruce does.

Bruce deserves his number retired much more than Avery - no question, no argument.

I can understand not knowing defensive rotations, and I wouldn't blame him for that. But there were a number of plays where he just made no attempt to close out on a shooter. Just waited and watched to see if their shot went down.

Maybe he was thinking that the game was as good as over, and he would have closed out if the game was on the line. It looked like he was more interested in getting down to the other end to show off his offense, but it really doesn't matter what he was thinking. Loafing while guys take wide-open shots isn't going to win any points with Pop, no matter what the score is or how much time is left.

I hope the guy gets a shot. It would be a hell of a Cinderella story. More than that, I hope he surprises everyone and actually finds a way to help the team. But what he did tonight just wasn't smart.

Did he throw the ball of Tiago's head when he was stuck on purpose? If so :lol

If he's gonna stick, he's gonna have to pronounce his name Oh-thigh-us and not O-thee-us. The former is righteous, the latter is gay.

But he's the next Michael Jordan. Did you see those hands?!?!

Non-issue really. He'll likely be gone in 10 days anyway. And by the way, no one should even be sniffing a #12 jersey but Bruce Bowen....

...His only previous experience in the NBA: 16 games last season with the Utah Jazz, coached then by Jerry Sloan, a Popovich role model.

“Yeah, they’re the same, but they’re different, too,” said Jeffers, who played for the Iowa Energy of the D-League before signing a 10-day contract with the Spurs. “Coach Sloan is pretty much poker-faced, but he’ll tell you what he wants. Pop will change it up and throw in a smile now and then. But it ends up the same way. They tell you what to expect and if you don’t give it to them, they’ll move on to the next person.”

..."He’s a good defender, and if he gets in a game we want to see him defend,” (Popovich) said.

..."Energy,” (Jeffers) said. “I sat down with the coaches and went over the thing they expect me to do, and that’s pretty much bringing energy and helping on defense.”

Liked his hustle, but he needs to take off Bruce's jersey and get his own number.

He didn't look that bad, but is he ahead of Anderson? Haven't heard why James didn't suit up. If you want #12 in the rafters, make a sign and march on the capital!!

I admit it kinda threw me off that he was wearing Bruce's jersey but it's not like we're signing a player that will last, tbh. If anything, he can have his number changed. Also, Pop let Danny Green wear his "beloved" player Michael Finley's number so I wouldn't look into this too much.

I do not like his habit, seen immediately last night, of one-handing the ball. Two Hands! This ain't Rucker Park

Oh give me a break it is a D-league call up in garbage time and your giving him a hard time? Either way he did OK for a first game in garbage time.

One thing is that you can tell why is is a great rebounder he has long arms and huge freakin hands.
