Roddy scores 15 pts in 14 minutes, the game starts to get ugly and Rick immediately turns to JET and benches Roddy after 3 minutes in the 2nd half. ..... just like last game (13pts in 13 minutes and pulled after 3 minutes into the 2nd because we start off slow). This is starting to get really frustrating. Rick hasn't learned anything..... I suspect management is forcing him to play him, how thick is he? He's CLEARLY a far superior player to Jet..... i just don't understand why he can't place an ounce of trust in the kid.

very annoying loss, but its not the end of the world

1. Brewer definitely needs to start. Peja is fucking worthless if his shot isnt falling. Brewer at least contributes without needing shots, and if they fall, thats just a bonus.

2. Dirk only played like 33 minutes, while the Grizzlies were playing their starters for massive minutes, logging well over 40 for Randolph. Plus, no Chandler. In the playoffs, this kind of shit wouldn't happen. Memphis isn't as much of a concern as some Mavs fans think. Not to mention how many bullshit offensive rebounds just happened to bounce right into their hands.

3. Why the FUCK is Roddy only getting 14 minutes, especially if he is scoring 15 points in that small amount of time, and doing so efficiently? Granted, Terry was playing well, but perhaps its not Terry that needs to be benched in favor of Roddy in this instance, but Kidd. Just because he is the high BBIQ vet, doesnt mean that if he is playing like dogshit, he doesnt deserve a benching. They would have been better off playing Terry at the 1, and Roddy at the 2, to match the energy and athleticism that Memphis brings.

I haven't even pondered any sort of chance that the Mavs will get the #1 seed. I've already accepted the #2 spot for awhile.

If the Mavs were to go 20-0, San Antonio would have to go 13-6 for there to even be a tie.

Brewer is fucking worthless. He's one of the worst offensive players in the league and he's not even a stopper, just an above average defender. Luckily Carlisle will have him and Barea to go to off the bench in the playoffs; that way we can go 4 on 5 on both ends of the court.

It's quite logical. Dallas never wins in LA and the Lakers have won a road playoff game in every series the last 3 years (outside of the 2008 finals).

also, I just dont get why Kidd keeps getting a free pass by Carlisle. There is only one guy on the team who EVER deserves a free pass for a shit night, and thats Dirk. Kidd played like ass, and should have been benched in favor of Roddy who had the hot hand. Generally, Kidd really isnt going to play like this, but he isnt so good anymore that he deserves a pass.

Bogans always got a free pass from Pop. Certain coach are just obsessed with veterans no matter what. Young guys just don't get the trust that a vet brings.

I'm also surprised Roddy isn't getting big minutes, but I have feeling by April he will be seeing significant time.

And what gives you that indication? His treatment of him last year? Or Rick's non-existent record of developing young talent when he had the chance (i.e prince, granger)? I wouldn't count on it..... I'm not, some coaches just love their vets, as you say. Rick's one of those coaches unfortunately....

Tbh what he said makes sense to me but I see your point. IMO, I consider anything that goes 6 or 7 games "a series" (but other opinions might vary). If Dallas has HCA, that means they'd have to lose 2/3 home games for LA to end it in 5 or sweep, while if LA has HCA they only need to steal game 3 or 4 to close it out in 5.

It'd be hard to give them a series if they were w/o HCA...especially given their troubles at Staples. Dallas could give them a real scare (and might even win if things bounced right) if they have HCA

Of course LA is a legit contender. They are the favorites. Spurs are clearly a legit contender. Their record may be a inflated, but they have balance and top tier talent. They do many things well.

I don't think the Mavs can beat the Lakers or Spurs, but I do think they can give both of them a difficult series meaning it goes at least 6 games.

tbh I'm judging Brewer based on what I've seen of him over the years and based on looking at his stats, regular and advanced. This has nothing to do with yesterday's game. I said he sucked when Minnesota cut him several times on here. Last year he had a stretch where hit threes in like 34 straight games and ended up with a semi-decent percentage (34%) but now he's gone back to sucking making him worthless on anything but a fast break. Really he hasn't been able to shoot except for a fluky second half last year. Also retards say you can just teach a guy to shoot like its that easy, so I want to head that retort off in advance. There was a study a while back on one of these advanced basketball sites and it showed by and large thats bullshit. Shooting is a skill for the most part. On rare occasions guys can become decent if they suck, but the majority of the time if they suck, they suck.
