The sense of urgency led the Lakers to victory. Yeah they beat us, beat us good, but the spurs do this to. They lose by 30 to the hornets, the raptors even grizzles sometimes.

The Lakers wish they were the only team to spank the Spurs this year.....................not. The Lakers will try to hang their hat on this one, for the Spurs, it's just one game. The Good Guys will regroup and be back.

I ain't worried. I'm going to be having a hell of a good time watching the Lakers and Mavs take each other to 7 games and killing each other doing it.
Just hope the Mavs get home court to make it extra rough on the Lakeshow.

Really, some of you pansy ass Spurs fans need to get a grip. The time to worry about the Spurs having enough size has long since passed. Some of us have spent the last five years talking about how the Spurs need more size, more shot blocking, more defense, and the collective response has been "Pop has four more rings than you do" and "Keith Bogans must be better in practice" and especially this season "look at the great record the Spurs have". Now the Spurs lose one regular season game that the Lakers treated like it was the playoffs and you're out here putting up alibi posts? Get the fuck out of here with that pathetic shit.
The Spurs have to dance with who brung them, meaning they're going to have to hit three pointers and outscore opponents in a lot of cases this year. Charles Barkley has always said that shots don't always fall, but defense never takes a day off, so nights like yesterday are bound to happen. Are there things to work on and improve before the playoffs? Undoubtedly. But offense and three point shooting are the straw that stirs the Spurs' drink now. Live with it and hope the Spurs don't panic like you do if they have a bad shooting night.

TBH, the Lakers have nothing to prove. They're the two time defending champions. In the first two matchups, the Lakers went away from the low post game and instead relied on outside jumpshots that weren't falling. This time, they played right into the Spurs weakness.
IMO, offense and three-point shooting will only get you so far. You may see it as one game, but LA exploited flaws that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, the Spurs can't do anything about it. They've turned into a lighter version of the Phoenix Suns.

If you're not alarmed, then quite frankly you aren't paying attention.
The Lakers exposed several glaring weaknesses in this Spur team.
1.) Tim Duncan is simply not a dangerous low post option anymore on offense or defense. The Lakers have held him to something like 10 ppg in all 3 games.
2.) The Lakers clearly have the size advantage over the Spurs and it shows up directly on the stat sheet in terms of offensive rebounds and second chance points
3.) Manu and Tony cannot drive against Bynum. He is a true defensive anchor when healthy.
4.) If the 3's aren't falling, the Spurs have no other offense to rely on outside of Parker going nutso on Fisher. Artest/Kobe can both check Manu, and Bynum can check Duncan.

Kind of....we know for sure we have home court and the tie breaker against your team. Please know, that the piece of human excrement known as Kobe Bryant, will be lucky after the Mavs run them down, to even see the Spurs again!! He is such a pitiful example of a decent person, that dumbasses like Jim Rome kill me with their 24/7 Kobe cocksucking. Rome definitely rules as far as sucking Kobe's cock non stop forever on live radio. Hope it taste great Jim.

If you're not alarmed, then quite frankly you aren't paying attention.
The Cavs exposed several glaring weaknesses in this Laker team.
blah blah blah we're so great...
I love when Lakerfan acts like some light has suddenly been shed on the Spurs because the Lakers decided to treat a regular season game with playoff intensity and the Spurs didn't.
DeJuan Blair is 6'6". We've known this for some time.
Pop won't play Splitter. We've known this for some time.
The Spurs have hitched their wagon to three point shooting. We've known this for some time.
The offense doesn't go through Tim Duncan anymore. We've known this, well you get the picture.
Bruce Bowen is on ESPN and there's not anyone in the league with a prayer of replacing him at this point, so the defense isn't as good as they were.
The main goal going into this season was to increase team depth, develop young players instead of bringing in vets, and keep everyone healthy and rested for the playoffs by limiting minutes. The focus was also put on starting off a little more seriously than last year so there wouldn't be a need to push just to make the playoffs. Surprise, the Spurs accidentally went out and went on a historic start. Whoops.
News flash for Laker Nation: Getting blitzed by LA didn't change a single one of the team's long term goals. This takes nothing away from the great performance the Lakers put on, but there's simply not a big-picture scenario that's bad for the Spurs as a result of that game. I'm sorry if that's not what you want to hear. If anything, it might make Pop consider forcing some more minutes on Splitter over the last part of the season in case he wants to rethink his defensive strategy a bit, but he's pretty set in his ways, so I doubt it. The Spurs know they came out flat, and they've historically been blown out on Sunday afternoon games. They're embarrassed, but that's about it.
LA is not the only team with a veteran championship core that has aspirations beyond the regular season. I assure you that a playoff game would not have gone down the same way, much as you wish to believe otherwise on March 8. Again, sorry, but this isn't the Heat we're talking about here.
If the Spurs and Lakers get to meet in the playoffs, and the Spurs lose, the seeds of that loss were sown months, if not years, ago. So those of us who have actually been paying attention aren't going to suddenly be alarmed by a single blowout loss to a team that seemed to think they had something to prove in the regular season. Lakers played great. Lakers dominated. Lakers won. It was embarrassing. But, as with every loss the Spurs have suffered this season, they're still in first place afterward. The only thing the Lakers really achieved was to gain a game in the standings. The Spurs have a few days to let it stew, then they can try to get back on track by finishing the homestand up strong.

That was a 2 point game with about 8 minutes to go. Sunday's game was a 30 point game with about 30 minutes to go. Big difference.
I still believe the Spurs can win it though...I've just seen you compare these two games in multiple threads and the two games were completely different.

Counting on the Lakers playing like they did in the first half of the season come playoff time is wishful thinking.
It's well known that THIS Laker team doesn't get its act together until post ASB. The Laker team you saw last Sunday is more akin to what you will see in the playoffs. That's why I wouldn't put too much stock in those two early regular season wins (keep in mind one of those wins was a last second McDyess tip in).

If you are a LaLa Land Faker or Lakerette then stick this up your ASS...!
If you are a real Laker fan then we'll see you in the playoffs and settle it there. Sunday's game settled nothing, nada, zip, zero nor exposed anything anymore than the two earlier games did.
SA Spurs - 51-12 (Home 29-3) (Road 22-9)
LA Lakers - 46-19 (Home 22-8) (Road 24-11) --- 6 games behind the SPURS
12/28/2010 --- SA SPURS over LA Lakers 97-82 = 15 point SPURS win
02/03/2011 --- SA SPURS over LA Lakers 89-88 = 1 point SPURS win
03/06/2011 --- LA Lakers over SA SPURS 99-83 = 16 point Lakers win
2010/2011 Season Spurs over Lakers 2-1
Oh and BTW...
SA SPURS 125 - 95 over the mighty Miami heat -- a 30 point SPURS WIN
Lakers LOST to the Miami heat 96-80 -- a 16 point Lakers LOSS
AND Even WORSE the Lakers LOST to the Cleveland Cavs 99-104 while the SPURS
beat the Cavs 109-99.
Remember it is not good to count your chicks before they have actually hatched.
We'll see you in the WC Finals!!! :toast

I think it's hilarious that Manu gets under Kobe's skin just for being Manu. Kobe's attitude is not that of a hall of famer, Manu isn't on the court to feign interest in fighting, he's there because he loves to play basketball, not because he loves to be praised like a self absorbed cock head.

Kobe is just pissed off that there are still players in the league that enjoy playing... and if there is a guy who loves to play as much as Kobe likes to indulge in himself is Manu...

Our 2 wins required a huge game from Blair and a last-second tip in from our oldest player. A win is a win, but I'm not sure these are the kind of things that we can count on.
I don't think we have much of a chance against them, but if we do the kind of ball we played in our 2 wins this year ain't good enough anyway.
On the other hand, since the Cleveland game, the Lakers have been playing the kind of sustained, focused basketball that has produced 3 straight Finals trips and 2 straight rings. If you haven't noticed the difference in the way they've been playing, you haven't been looking. They look as dominant as ever.

Interestingly, the team that played them the closest on their current winning streak was OKC. And I thought OKC was the only team that had a chance to beat them in last year's WC playoffs.
Is their anything we can learn or emulate from the way OKC plays them? Well, we could go small and try to speed the game up...ugh.

It remains to be seen if Perkins will fit in. Anyway, I think Artest pretty much owns Durant. However, I think Durant is capable of playing a lot better - maybe this will be a breakout year for him. Hope so (but not against the Spurs). Hook 'em!

If Perkins does nothing else but D up Bynum then he was a successful pickup, and he's shown he can do just that. You're right about Ron owning KD, but sooner or later the kid is just going to unleash hell on us.
Sefolosha is another key, as he guards Kobe 1-on-1 better than just about anyone in the league. Add in some good defense and rebounding down low (Ibaka) and some speedy athletic guards that give LA fits (Westbrook, Harden), and you have a nightmare matchup for the Lakers.
The playoffs are going to be nasty this year. I'm hoping for an OKC-POR 1st rounder followed by Spurs-Thunder and Mavs-Lakers. The ECSF should be even more entertaining.
We are in for a treat this year as fans :hat
