I been n.o, outside the Strip, I will give the edge to Nola.

What?

Las Vegas is far greater than NO. The Strip alone makes up like 80% of Vegas' greatness. NO does not even compare. The only reason NO might be in the discussion is because of Mardi Gras.

Really though, Las Vegas is a whole 'nother world.

I lived in Las Vegas for years before moving to Northridge Cali. People seem to think that the the whole city of vegas is like the strip but it's not. Outside of the strip, vegas is BORING. I visited New Orleans last year for the first time and that city is unlike any other city I ever visit. Sorta reminds me a lil of Miami.

That's a retarded statement. It's like saying that without her ass Kim Kardashian isn't that hot, well no shit, that's what makes her bangable. The Strip has more entertainment in 4 miles than ANY other city in the world has in it's entirety. Girls, clubs, restaurants, resorts...etc all pretty much an elevator ride from your room. I wouldn't live in Vegas for any amount of money because yeah off of the strip it's pretty gross, but if I had 1 weekend left to live, I would spend it in LV.

Coming from SOMEONE who lived in Vegas, I know what I'm taking about:lobt2::lobt2::lobt2:. Miami has girls, clubs, restuarants, resorts, etc... Same can be said for other major cities. What I'm saying is that no other city can put on a party like New Orleans and many people will agree. Vegas will still be in my top 5.

Been to both, New Orleans has it's nuances, but there is nothing you can't get in Vegas for entertainment 24 hrs a day.

My baby Carlos had fun there to, even got to jerk off by the pool and nobody cared.

I agree with baseline that there are a lot of fun things to do in Nevada and that the area surrounding Las Vegas is beautiful and fun to explore. That said, those things ain't the city itself and aren't really pertinent to the discussion.

Limiting the comparison to the cities themselves, Vegas has nothing on New Orleans. I've been to Vegas more times than I can count, ever since I was a kid, and I've never not been bored by day four. On the other hand, I've lived in New Orleans for almost nine months now and it's becoming clearer and clearer that I could live here for years before finally getting to everything I want to do here. I've yet to go out without discovering some new fantastic bar, or neighborhood, or restaurant, or stumble into a club with amazing live music. And I've been to more concerts here (concerts, not just bar bands) in less than a year than I had in the previous several years. Bourbon Street is a horrible bore, and Mardi Gras only happens once a year, but there are festivals, art walks, neighborhood markets, and the like on a weekly (if not daily) basis.

Vegas is a cesspool, just like this thread. It's faux glamour and excess. It smells like cheap cologne and chemical fountain water. I've been more than a few times. It's a shitty, shitty place. It's all fine and good for a matter of two days. Anybody who would rather travel to and/or live in LV over New Orleans is a creep.

How in the world do you even compare the two? I mean, I don't have a preference because both have their good things and bad, but in all sincerity it should come down to a matter of what is more sustainable: The experiences of which city provides the most memories and then you can go from there. Personally, its a toss because at least with Las Vegas you're closer to another place that offers tons to do (SoCal) and the closest thing to New Orleans is Miami and its still further than the trek from LV to LA. Can't beat the fun times in NOLA though...the humidity on the other hand will always be a blechhh aspect.

All those places are pretty short drives from LV of less than 50 miles. Disregarding them is almost like ignoring the beach when talking about LA because Malibu, Huntington, Redondo, Santa Monica, etc. aren't in the city proper.

Go the contentious route if you feel it necessary, but I was really just getting at a difference in taste/priorities. My answer, today, at 32 is exactly the same as it would have been when I was 21.

Ending yesterday, I spent the majority of six full days stumbling around the city in various stages of sobriety/drunkenness draped in enough tacky plastic beads that I actually got back spasms, so I'm far from immune to the specific brand of fun for which this city is most famous, but I've never been one to define fun based solely on how drunk I can get and how much of an ass I can make of myself. Matter of taste.

I don't entirely disagree, but I would say that the LA metro area is a different case than either Vegas or New Orleans metro. Different even than the Bay Area, though I would consider that to be more similar. Density is a big factor -- going from LA to Malibu or Pasadena feels like a continuation of the same city in a way that going from Vegas or New Orleans to their surrounding areas does not.

Sounds like someone who has never been laid in Vegas or been with a group of friends and partied for 3 straight days. I never said I would live in LV, couldn't pay me enough to do that, but given a choice I would go on vacation to Vegas 10 times out of 10. I spend enough time being a father, going to parks and "cultural" type stuff where I live, going to Vegas ever 4 months or so for 3 days lets me and my gf pretty much sleep, eat, and fuck whenever we want which is a nice break from working 40 hour weeks, parenting, and being a full time student. Plus I can't think of any other city where it is so easy to find 10,000 hot women in 5 minutes and pretty much know 90% of them want to have threesomes. I'm sure in 10 years I'll have it out of my system, but I can't see who in their right mind at a young age would rather visit NOLA any time other than Mardi Gras

Buddy, I've spent enough time in Vegas to know what it's about. And it is a faux-glamorous shit-hole designed to make the average rube feel like they belong to something better. Every single year I spend a day and night there on my way to Del Mar/San Diego. It's at best a pit stop for people who travel to places with dignity, where there are FAR better women and things far better to do than 'get away from the kids for naps and shitty buffets and threesomes with drunken std cases.'

lol Mormons. I just don't understand how going out to clubs, drinking, and eating "makes the average man feel like he belongs to something bigger." What a tool.

Here's how: Right now you don't belong to shit. Your one destination in life by your own admission is going to Vegas every four months, 'ten times out of ten', trying desperately to ignore the fact that your life is nothing more than having knocked up your live in girlfriend while you're still in school and having to bust your ass just to keep your head afloat enough that you can go get some shit ass room and sub par rubber lobster, every four months, at a crummy casino on the shitty end of the strip, probably Excalibur. Then put on the latest ensemble that the ol' GF picked out for you at some discount t-shirt retailer to go 'clubbin' at some shit hole that's designed to look like the type of place that houses the type of people you so desperately want to be.

If I sound better than you, it's because I am. It's because I got better places to see, ten times out of ten, than the shitty side of Vegas. It's because I fuck girls who not only wouldn't even look at you, but would vomit just as the thought of touching your loose-ass cunt girfriend's probably knocked up ass at the same time. It's because I truly do belong to something better and don't feel the need to escape into some fantasy world every four months just to barely forget what a shit storm of trashy hardship my life is. So yeah, that's how Vegas makes you feel like you belong to something bigger, because you come from something pathetic and small. You shouldn't try to condescend to your superiors. We don't need the fake security of of the shittiness you call luxury. Chew on that, ghetto motherfucker.
