I lived in Las Vegas for years before moving to Northridge Cali. People seem to think that the the whole city of vegas is like the strip but it's not. Outside of the strip, vegas is BORING. I visited New Orleans last year for the first time and that city is unlike any other city I ever visit. Sorta reminds me a lil of Miami.

How in the world do you even compare the two? I mean, I don't have a preference because both have their good things and bad, but in all sincerity it should come down to a matter of what is more sustainable: The experiences of which city provides the most memories and then you can go from there. Personally, its a toss because at least with Las Vegas you're closer to another place that offers tons to do (SoCal) and the closest thing to New Orleans is Miami and its still further than the trek from LV to LA. Can't beat the fun times in NOLA though...the humidity on the other hand will always be a blechhh aspect.

Ending yesterday, I spent the majority of six full days stumbling around the city in various stages of sobriety/drunkenness draped in enough tacky plastic beads that I actually got back spasms, so I'm far from immune to the specific brand of fun for which this city is most famous, but I've never been one to define fun based solely on how drunk I can get and how much of an ass I can make of myself. Matter of taste.

I don't entirely disagree, but I would say that the LA metro area is a different case than either Vegas or New Orleans metro. Different even than the Bay Area, though I would consider that to be more similar. Density is a big factor -- going from LA to Malibu or Pasadena feels like a continuation of the same city in a way that going from Vegas or New Orleans to their surrounding areas does not.

I never said I would live in LV, couldn't pay me enough to do that, but given a choice I would go on vacation to Vegas 10 times out of 10. I spend enough time being a father, going to parks and "cultural" type stuff where I live, going to Vegas ever 4 months or so for 3 days lets me and my gf pretty much sleep, eat, and fuck whenever we want which is a nice break from working 40 hour weeks, parenting, and being a full time student. Plus I can't think of any other city where it is so easy to find 10,000 hot women in 5 minutes and pretty much know 90% of them want to have threesomes.
