My pops got this dog of the street a few days ago and wanted to know what type of breed it is. It's most likely a mutt/mix but figured I'd give it a shot and ask some of you guys (lot of dog owners on this board). Any educated guess is welcomed.

He's very Spaniel-ish.

yeah id say a cocker spaniel mix if anything. they usually have curlier hair though.

Hair/face doesn't look right for a cocker spaniel, but yeah, there is some predominant spaniel in there, looks like.

So I guess if I don't know the breed treat it like spaniel? Just wondering if my dad should cut the dogs hair. Summers in tx aren't kind.

...and listen to him/her bark at the wind.

Unless the poor guy was abused wherein it may be hard to even get him to bark at all.

Probably. Make sure it's taken to a vet ASAP to be checked for things like worms, fleas, etc. And then the vet can give him guidance about proper grooming for a dog w/ that hair/skin type and let him know if there are any special things he should be aware of (ie, many cockers have ear problems and need more frequent cleaning).

Or even to see if he is chipped. He could just be lost.
