Honestly they'll probably lose a bunch more games regardless...4th seed is best. If able to get out 1st round you avoid the Lakers in 2nd round and play the Spurs.

Also, memo to Carslie....PLAY RODDY YOU IDIOT AND KEEL CARDINAL ON THE BENCH

Mavs couldn't beat the Spurs last year with HCA and now they are worse while the Spurs are better and you want that?

I mean, I guess it's better than LA, but still does not look good.

If anything, they need to keep up their decidedly average differentials and eek out some more wins and keep HCA over LA. It's their only hope to win a series in the 2nd round imo.

Without Caron, yes, they are. Again, the Mavs only broke 90 points in 2 of the 6 games vs the Spurs and they have now lost their 2nd best offensive player.

When I say worse, I should have clarified that I meant offensively. They are about the same as last year with the addition of Chandler (and the subtraction of Butler).

Mavs have a better point differential, offensive efficiency, and record this year... yet somehow theyre worse :lol

Dallas has the worst point differential out of the top 6 contenders. They are closer to the 17th ranked team than the first (Spurs).

Dallas is 15th in the league in rebounding differential.

Dallas is behind SA/LA/MIA in OFF EFF & behind CHI/BOS/MIA/LA/ORL in DEF EFF.

Dallas's metrics are not conducive to a championship caliber team.

Not without Caron they aren't.

based on the same metrics you posted, yes they are..

That is not a knock on the Mavs. They are a great team, even without Caron. But they are at best a wash all around, especially when it comes to playoff basketball.

BOOK IT.

If the last 3 matchups are any indication, then the team w/o HCA should be favored in that series :lol

DPG21920

They are marginally better offensively right now for the total year (107.9 compared to 107.1) and the same goes for defensively (103.2 compared to 102.9).

So don't play it off by arguing semantics.

Spurs are clearly the favorites. Not saying it is easy, the series never are, but the Spurs are clearly the favorites and I would be shocked if the Mavs won.

It would take an all World performance from Dirk. Which they had last year and still lost with HCA.

So you'd rather the mavs play the lakers without home court in the wcf.

You're stupid.

The Mavs point differential is skewed because they sucked elephant dick when Dirk was injured.

The Mavs point differential was not that great and hasn't been for a few years. Hence a lot of first round exits.

With the way the Spurs play defense, the Mavs don't need worldly performances from anyone.

:lol So explain last year? Explain why the Spurs defense is better than the Mavs as well.

No way the Mavs fall below the Thunder. They'll finish 2nd or 3rd....

Explain what? Dallas isn't the same team as last year. Chandler is going to be the difference maker on defense.
The Mavs weren't terrible last year, which is part of the reason why they finished with the second-best record in the Western Conference. But they had too many lapses late in the season to be able to survive the inevitable tough shooting nights that came along. They were 15th, dead smack in the middle of the league, allowing 45.7 percent shooting to opponents. OK, but not great.

Um, I never said the Spurs defense is better than the Mavs. They aren't. Carlisle has been experimenting with Roddy in the starting lineup which is probably a mistake. When the Mavs are completely healthy and with Chandler anchoring the paint, the Mavs' defense is at a decade-high currently, holding their opponents to 43.1% shooting. Obviously, depth is a problem and the offense becomes complacent with big leads. But a full strength Mavs team with Butler and co. could take the Spurs.

Exactly what I was thinking. If your objective is to win the championship you'll have to beat them anyway so it doesn't matter. I would say he has his head up his ass, but this is so stupid it is more like he has his head up my ass and I'm about to wipe...:idiot
