Do they shut it down, or do they run both promotions?

Will this allow cross promotion type fights now?
That and how long before a possible merger....

There will be no co-promotion according to White, and Lorenzo Fortitta will deal with SF's Showtime stuff as Scott Coker stays in charge of SF itself.
Daley is threatening to back out of his fight with Diaz because he doesn't want to make UFC/Zuffa money after he was banned.
I'm excited for the eventual Overeem/Cain fight, it's gonna happen because it's just too awesome not to happen.

Damn 2 yrs too late. In a meaning that Fedor would be a great acquisition. But I think still Fedor was not making any significant progress in this sport in like 5 years and I was saying it after every fight esp. after Arlovsky fight.
Yea and it seems like Emelianenko career is over.
Will it be a next step for Dana to take over dream or Bellator?
It really will be tough for smaller organizations to make any good money.
Probably they will run that SF plans till the end of a year, easp when we talk about HW 'tournament' and then will merge similar to WEC merge. Better fighters gonna fight.
btw. I don't know if Overeem gonna pass the test although now he do not need to juice that much. Just to keep what he does with nutritions and supplements

It would
But the desire is the thing. Randy got plenty and Fedor seems like he lost everything and he felt tricked after his lat fight IMO

Fedor's dumb-shit management weighs in...
http://www.5thround.com/70435/team-fedor-emelianenko-unfazed-by-ufcs-purchase-of-strikeforce/
After UFC president Dana White announced he had purchased yet another rival, this time perhaps his biggest threat to date, many wondered if Fedor Emelianenko’s Octagon debut was just around the overdue corner. Nyet, says M-1 Global director of operations Evgeni Kogan.
“Fedor’s contract is with Showtime Networks Inc. and we’re excited to be working with such a premium North American outlet,” Kogan told MMAWeekly.
White was adamant when telling MMAFighting the UFC and Strikeforce will continue to operate as two separate entities. He also added the San Jose, California based promotion’s contract with Showtime should expire in about two years.
Until that deal is up, White has to remain relatively hands-off and allow everything to stay “business as usual.” That’s why M-1 Global and their client claim to care less about the UFC’s acquisition.
Considering Emelianenko practically announced his retirement following his second consecutive defeat last month, it’s highly likely the 34-year-old will be long gone by the time the UFC swallows up Strikeforce, as most anticipate happening once Showtime is out of the picture.
“The purchase of Strikeforce doesn’t affect M-1 at all,” Kogan stated. “Our TV deal is with Showtime and we’re happy. It’s business as usual for M-1 Global, as we close into our March 25th event.”
As part of their new Emelianenko-powered agreement with Showtime, the premium cable network will air several M-1 Global events. The Russians make their debut later his month.
Strikeforce and Showtime execs have remained mum since White flipped the MMA world upside-down early Saturday morning.

Dana really is the ultimate bullshitting business man. In those videos i posted he is selling SF as a legit company now that he owns them. But in this video starting at around 4:10 here he is bashing everything about them from their fighters, to their ratings on ST to the way they are run...
From
"4 fuckin people watch showtime"
To
"These guys pull good ratings on ST"
Oh Dana...

It does suck that SF is struggling enough that they were open to the UFC buying them. In 2 years max SF will be gone. They'll merge the best fighters with the UFC and Coker will be out of a job or hopefully get a different spot in the UFC..
If Overeem wins this Grand Prix, which he should the UFC needs to get him over there already..

Apparently Dana and Lorenzo changed their minds within the last 48 hours about the UFC having superfights w/ Strikeforce. The Heavyweight GP Finale could go to PPV. They might explore putting UFC on Showtime (I call bullshit business tactic tho).
