Give me 3 out-of-the-box predictions that will happen in the tournament.

1 SDSU will make it to the championship game (losing to KU)

2 Saint Johns will make the Final Four

3 Akron will beat Notre Dame (15 over 2)

The Reckoning
03-13-2011, 11:55 PM
1. Ohio State loses in the 2nd round
2. Gonzaga beats Florida and makes it to the elite 8
3. Vanderbilt loses to Richmond in the first round

JMarkJohns

No to St. John's. Not nearly as good away from home.

Morehead State or Richmond makes Sweet 16
UCLA makes Elite 8
Washington over North Carolina in Round of 32.

1. Ohio State loses in the 2nd round
2. Gonzaga beats Florida in the second round
3. Vanderbilt loses to Richmond in the first round

Gonzaga doesn't play Florida in Round of 32, UCLA (assuming win) does.

Gonzaga won't make it out of the 1st tbh.

Belmont to sweet 16.

The Reckoning

Oh. In that case. UTSA to final four.

Arizona/Texas is going to be a great one... assuming both those teams advance of course. :hungry:

Hopefully it'll be like 2009 when Arizona plays a shitty team to advance to the sweet 16 when Cleveland St. beat Wake Forest (I'm looking at you, Oakland). Memphis on the other hand won't be an easy win for AZ. 2 outa the last 3 years in the sweet 16 with a rebuilding team will be a great pitch to recruits.

I have only one crazy prediction: This year it's going to be more crazy and unpredictable than ever. No one will have a bunch of accurate predictions, but there will be way crazier things that no one saw coming.

No. Duke would destroy them.

No. Duke would destroy them.

No fucking kidding...

Fact is, once I get my Elite 8, I have no faith in any team to get it done. I don't trust Pitt (tradition of underachieving), Kansas (last year jitters) or Ohio State (lack of scoring wing, reliance on freshman) for various reasons. I think Syracuse is a bit overrated, I think UConn will break down from wear and isn't as good as their recent run indicates. I don't expect North Carolina or Florida to make much noise. Kentucky is too young, BYU is too thin, Wisconsin too gimmicky, Louisville always seems to choke around the Sweet 16/Elite 8, and Texas has been bi-polar of late.

For some reason, I like Notre Dame a lot, but like Purdue even more, and I really want to like San Diego State, but their losses to BYU scare me.

I've changed my Final 4 and Championship teams/winner at least six times today alone. If I had to pick, I'd go San Diego State losing to Kansas in the Title, but I have zero trust in any of my Elite 8 teams. Disgusting.

6 Degrees of Justification

Duke loses to St. John's.
St. John's loses to UCLA.
UCLA loses to Arizona.

Hahaha...

If I here Kyrie Irving is returning, I'll probably, disgustingly, pick Duke. Not sure if I can bring myself to that.

Texas can still do damage regardless of the late season collapse. They'll get their shot at Duke and they could definitely win.

Barnes is a choke artist, dude. It's been since TJ Ford in 2004 that he had a team meet expectations and ability in the tournament, IMO. If Self can shed the label, I supposed Barnes can too, but Texas lost on the road to a then mediocre USC team just as they most recently dropped two games to non-Tourney teams Colorado and Nebraska. Too violently inconsistent.

Is an Irving return really possible at this point? I didn't realize he was still an option to come back.

tbh, them beating a lot of good teams shows me that they have the potential to make a cinderella type run if the planets align

What does everyone think of Kentucky? I actually see them as a possible sleeper team that's extremely talented and is playing with very little pressure.

JamStone

1. BYU loses in the first round (not a hugely bold prediction with the loss of the fornicator, but still a #3 losing)
2. Florida State will make the Elite 8 and will be the last double digit seed to fall
3. Louisville will make the Championship game

Axe Murderer

tbh, I thought about BYU losing in the 1st round but I think Fredette alone will carry them to 1 maybe 2 wins

Absolutely possible. Just a bold prediction.

It's a shame we didn't get to see Purdue with Robbie Hummel this year, I don't see a team as talented as they are w/ Hummel.

Not with Barnes as coach. This guy has had good talent for a while now, and consistently fails to be better than mediocre

I think they'd be the favorite with Duke and a healthy Kyrie Irving. Shame both those players got injured.

What is everyone picking so far (I'm lost :cry). Right now my tentative final four is Duke, Kentucky, Florida and Kansas which is sure to change about 20 times before Thursday.

USC goes deep.

Texas vs. St. John's in the championship.

OSU loses in the opening round.

DoK, the SEC was really down this year. Two SEC teams in the Final 4 seems really iffy. Duke is the surest of your picks, followed by Kansas.

Right now I have Ohio State (over Syracuse), San Diego State (over Duke), Kansas (but I'm thinking Purdue or Notre Dame could become my choice by Thursday) and Pittsburgh (easiest path).

Kyle Orton

Well Kentucky is a bit of a stretch, the way they seem to have gelled in the SEC tournament caught my eye, but now that I think about it I don't want to be relying on a Calipari team to exceed expectations.

I know you have UCLA over Florida in the 2nd round, you know that game's in Tampa right?

Losing to Oakland in a blowout will be a lot of damage.

Yeah. It's a gut feeling. Although, it depends on if Lee is healthy. I've got a connection I'll talk to tomorrow who knows the truth (not what's reported) and I'll make my mind up then. UCLA has too much size, and Florida struggled with size vs. Kentucky (35 points on +50% FG, 21 rebounds, 5 blocks) and UCLA has better size and depth up front than Kentucky. Florida has struggled with size all season, getting killed by Ohio State and Kentucky in the Title game, and struggling to beat lesser teams with size like Morehead State.

Florida has nobody who can contain Smith, and Nelson and Honeycut are the versatile forwards that seem to routinely tear Florida apart.

1. Old Dominion makes it to the sweet 16
2. Dogus Balbay averages more than 6 ppg (minimum of 2 games played by Texas)
3. BYU loses in the first round.

Purdue loses a key piece to the team with the suspension of Barlow. Big loss. Great defender. Helps me make my mind up about how far Purdue makes it.

Morehead State or Richmond makes Sweet 16

This, if I do say so myself, was a hell of a call, considering it was dependent upon a 12/13 upsetting 5/4 in the same bracket.

I have Morehead State advancing vs. Richmond, for what it's worth.
