View Full Version : Should T.D. sit the Heat game out?

Win or lose, I think Timmy should sit this game out. Anyone agree?

It doesn't matter what that stat sheet shows but Timmy was the reason for the big win against Miami with his low post threat on both O and D. It's about that time in the season for "tune-ups."

Ilgauksus is out(I think) and it would be a good time to get Blair and Splitter some quality minutes. Win or lose.

No. Let's win, and let's win big.... though I think we'll barely squeak this one out, I think Timmy should play. It's almost playoff time... no rest for the weary.

NO!

...maybe after the game is in hand!

Personally, I don't think Bosh deserves to be playing against TD and pretending he can compete. I say rest him and let Bosh get bullied by Blair.

I don't want to tank this game, not in the least. I want to see how well the team can play D without relying on TD. Face it, there is little D when TD isn't playing. I want to see how well our other guys respond.

No, the Lakers are playing better and the Spurs need to make more room in the standings so they can get 1st place at the end of the regular season

Some of the newbies and their thoughts are just puzzling.

It is the stretch run to the playoffs you want everyone to play their best, Timmy needs to play, there is much work to be done, especially on the "D", resting Timmy won't help to improve that any.

lets sit all the starters. show the heat no respect!!

Timmy has been resting the entire season.

Seriously though, need to regroup as that LA shellacking is still vibrant in the team's psyche.

"Sometimes you gotta step back in order to see the whole picture."

My suggestion ultimately has nothing to do with Timmy but rather the front court.

Man, this forum used to be a cool place...

Without Tim the fontcourt is nothing!
Spurs cant afford to sit Tim out, heading into the stretch run into the playoffs...

So you're suggesting we take our #1 matchup advantage off the floor (well, maybe #2 after the PG matchup) to save ammo for the playoffs, more than a month before they start?

?

if that's the case the Spurs need to get a big lead and then Timmy will sit

So from what you gather - this whole post is about "saving ammo?"

lol.

-I'm saying that this is a Miami Heat team who wants to prove to the world that they can compete at an elite level.

-The Miami Heat is an Easter Conference team who isn't our problem unless they get to the finals(big IF)

-Timmy has proven he is still a defensive presence despite his age, the rest of the front court - has not. At least not on a consistent basis.

This is a perfect opportunity(in my eyes) to test the bench against a butt-hurt team who wants to prove something. AKA - this is a trap game. A Fairy Tale story for BSPN.

Anyway, I'd love to discuss this on a detailed level with all you knowledgeable basketball folk but I'm a newb. Fuck you.

Either go into a game with the intent of winning it, or go into the game with the intent of resting your best players. No combination of the two ever turns out well.

Bar an improbable collapse, the Spurs have secured the #1 spot.

Hence, from now on, this is called a pre-PO season.

TD and Manu should not play >25'.

It's the time of year for Pop settling-in with a solid 9-man rotation. He does it every year in March & April until the last couple of games, if seeding isn't impacted that much. History shows there won't be many opportunities for the 5th Big on the roster (Splitter, this year) in March and beyond. Injuries and fouls are the only situational exceptions. Hill, Neal, Bonner and Blair get the primary bench minutes now. It's tune up the defense time with a shorter rotation. That's just how it is.

Its a great opportunity to rest a little bit more Tim Duncan, and playing more minutes for Splitter! Its gonna be playoffs time in 15 games or less, we cant afford not to have a tall guy against team like Mavs and Lakers who rebounds very well!

I will be very surprised if the Spurs manage to win this game.

Might as well go straight to Dallas if Duncan ain't playing. Win or lose.

Stupid idea.

Timmy is once again our key to winning the championship. Did you watch the last couple minutes of the Houston game on saturday? He made the biggest basket of the night and the biggest free throws as well.

Ummm..no. There's no reason to rest him. It's not like it's the 1st game of a back to back or anything. They don't play again until Friday @Dallas....

i think we should jump out on them fast - then sit Timmy.

If anything the Spurs should start to go to Timmy more, get him ready for the playoffs.

Zero_Twilight

THIS is why I wanted Timmy to sit. Who didn't see this coming from a mile away?

Don't blame Crawford for doing what he's told to do, this is the NBA these days and the circus is in town.

If Timmy sat this one out, we could of saved a little dignity and came out blazing against Dallas.

FUCK!! The Miami Heat DO NOT deserve this redemption. FUCK!!
