Oddly enough both the sister cities for Austin and San Antonio, Oita and Kumamoto respectively are in the south part of Japan. Kumamoto is inland, and probably spared from any tsunami.
You can find out more through your own city's websites. This might be a good opportunity to reach out in a very local way to help.
Austin's sister city information:

San Antonio's information:

Both are the first links I found, if anybody has better information let me know and I will add information in an edit to this post.

By the way, Dallas is the "friendship" city of Sendai, Japan, the large city that has apparently been hit hardest. I might post a duplicate thread to let the Mav's fans know.

This might be a good clearinghouse thread for anybody wishing to help as well. Please feel free to post any good information you get.
