Uhm...
Call me back when we stop losing to shitty teams. :lol
Seriously, everyone knows I'm bugged about the Perkins trade, Ainge talking about how Shaq and Jermaine would carry us when they've played only320 games or so combined this season. That said, we got a decent record without Perkins, and last year we made it to Game 7 after going 27-27 (or something similar) after the ASB.
Feel free to figure out which parts of this post are fact, which are optimism, and which are both.
And Tommy Heinsohn is without peer. :lol

Who needs size when you've got jumpshooting white boys?
What a terrible trade. Don't give a damn about whether they could re-sign him or not, it's better to lose him in free agency with another ring than replace him with what they did.

I wouldn't call the Celtics "Spurs West" yet. Unlike San Antonio the Celtics really do know how to turn it on in the playoffs and it all starts with their defense. Last year Boston looked like shit in the regular season and then put on one of the most impressive playoffs runs I've ever seen. They damn near took out all the best teams without home court advantage. They're looking like crap now but I don't expect them to look this way in a month. Even without Perkins they're going to be a force.

These Spurs ain't the "Spurs". This is what they've become.
I said the Celtics really were becoming Spurs East (is what I meant) because the Spurs used to always have the defensive size - until Robert Horry came along and contaminated Pop's brain.
He's become infatuated with floor-spacing at the expense of D. Somehow his greatest takeaway from Horry was his 3-point shooting and not the off-the-charts basketball IQ and all-around intangibles/game he possessed within a team concept. And when Horry left the stage Bonner was selected for the role - he can really shoot the 3, so long as you don't close out on him (which never fucking happens in the playoffs, am I right?).
Boston's looking like they're becoming Spurs East, they're just about where the Spurs were in 08-09, not 10-11.

That Spurs core is far removed from 2005-2007. Duncan isn't even close to what he once was and I doubt he's going to suddenly become an 20/10 player in the playoffs. He can't sustain that kind of level for a long period of time. And to make matters worse SA's defense (the main reason they won those titles) is pretty much non-existent these days...not anything like the 2005-2007 team. I doubt they're going to flip a switch and suddenly start playing world class defense...especially with no legit bigs in the paint.

Well that's a different argument. I am not sure this Spurs team has enough to win it either but what you said was "unlike the Spurs the Celtics really do know how to turn it on in the playoffs" That makes no sense because if anyone knows how to turn it on it would be the Spurs... whether or not they have enough talent to win it all remains to be seen but they definitely know what they are getting themselves into. Where is your evidence saying the Celtics know how to turn it on during the playoffs but the Spurs don't... not like we have 4 championships to show that we do.. oh wait.

Rondo's shooting lines from the past five games:
Bos v Mem: 2-12
Bos v NY: 6-15
Bos v NO: 4-8
Bos v Hou: 2-11
Bos v Ind: 0-2
Shit, let's go back five more games...
Bos v NJ: 1-10
Bos v Mil: 1-6
Bos v Phi: 6-12
Bos v LAC: 6-15
Bos v Mil: 3-7
Heck, let's just go all the way back to Mar 1 to see how long he's been shooting poorly.
Bos v GS: 3-11
Bos v Pho: 6-8
So for the month of March, Rondo's made 40/117, for a sterling FG% of 34%! Woot.

Jermaine O’Neal may be ready by next week (http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/celtics/index.php/2011/03/23/jermaine-oneal-may-be-ready-by-next-week/)
"It could be next week, which is about what we hoped for - the end of the month," said Ainge. "He looks good. I watched him go through his workouts."
"The most encouraging news, according to Ainge, is that O’Neal has been able to work out for approximately three weeks without swelling. In addition to working out with a trainer, the center has been playing 1-on-1 basketball."LINK (http://www.celticsblog.com/)

Different pieces now though & a year older. Rondo has to somehow learn how to make a jumpshot quickly :lol. Miami will probably get the second seed now but I still think Boston can beat them without homecourt. The Bulls are a toss up, they'll probably get the 1 seed but their offense goes stagnant too often. Deng & Boozer will have to take it up a notch.

Boston’s hit that special time of year where they don’t care again (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/03/26/bostons-hit-that-special-time-of-year-where-they-dont-care-again/)
Matt Moore
Ah, the early weeks of spring. Winters still lingers at the edge, nipping at heels. The NCAA tournament provides all sorts of drama. And the Celtics completely and totally stop giving a flying crap about their effort in regular season games.
It’s become a yearly tradition to see the powerhouse contender tail off their efforts, struggling to beat mediocre-to-terrible teams, not closing games effectively and generally showing the exact opposite kind of performance they’ve been giving for months. And unlike previous seasons, you can’t get sucked into believing this stretch has any sort of impact on the postseason. Don’t buy in. The Celtics are just trying to trick you with their laziness. They’ll be ready. But for now? It’s ugly.
First the Celtics suffered a close loss to an underrated Grizzlies team that really is worthy of a loss for the Celtics with the way they’ve been playing (consider last night’s three-point edging by the Bulls over the Grizzlies just more proof). But the way the Celtics lost is the problem. They coughed up the ball constantly, showing little or no intention of running the offense smoothly. But that loss was understandable, it happens. Then the Bobcats, who every season seem to sneak up on the guys in green, came to town, came back from a sizable deficit, and wound up holding off the Celtics as Boston missed two threes to tie on the final possession.
The Celtics are now two games back of Chicago for the top spot in the East, and only a half game above Miami. As for the fans? Well, they’re not taking this streak of subpar efforts super well:
I feel sorry for anyone who has tickets to the remaining regular season games. The Celtics have flat out quit. Thats the only explanation for the pitiful performance we witnessed tonight.
via Recap: The Celtics are dead – RedsArmy.com – The Voice Of Celtics Fans (http://www.redsarmy.com/home/2011/03/recap-the-celtics-are-dead.html#comments).
There are those two words again, “no urgency”. Celtics fans heard that enough last season to last a lifetime. And oh yeah, let’s not forget “bored with the regular season”, something Doc Rivers also alluded to after Friday night’s loss.
Old habits die hard.
If you think Rivers ripped into his team after the game, think again. The only message given to the players was the time of practice on Saturday – 12:30. He’ll let the rest sink in over night.
As for the rest of the season, that’s on the players. Rivers says that for things to change they have to be honest with themselves – he’s right. They certainly talk a good game, maybe the best in the league, but if they play the way they have the last two games it won’t matter what seed they get – they’re first round exits.
And if that happens, Danny Ainge will take no prisoners.
But it doesn’t have to end like that. It wasn’t built to. The Celtics need to get back to what brought them so much success.
Ultimately, it’s Ubuntu, and for the Celtics it’s time to practice what they preach.
Enough talking about it.
via Where Are You Ubuntu? – CelticsBlog (http://www.celticsblog.com/2011/3/26/2073108/where-are-you-ubuntu#storyjump).
But the Celtics won’t correct this. Not for another eighteen days. They simply can’t be bothered to gear up for the regular season. But when the time comes for them to deliver the goods in the postseason, they’ll be ready. We can say that because they’ve always been ready before. Even the 2009 team gave a good effort and was simply overmatched without Garnett against a red-hot Orlando team. But then there’s last season and the remaining belief that the Celtics might have toppled L.A., even without Kendrick Perkins, had Game 7 been in L.A.. There was an emphasis on homecourt advantage this year for Boston. And instead they seem content to surrender it without much of a fight.
Anyone would trade a handful of meaningless late regular season games for championship intensity in the playoffs. But that won’t stop the frustration over what amounts to an inability to summon the effort to beat teams Boston is clearly capable of beating.

Rondo played decently today. I don't really like when Rondo is our high-scorer, but at least he didn't go 1-11 tonight.
A lot of it depends on how healthy Perkins is. If Perkins breaks down this season, or early next, then some people might defend it.
But Nenad is showing what a Europussy he is. We keep losing because Big Baby and KG have to be our C's, which makes our team composition lousy. They're much better when KG is playing at PF and Big Baby is spelling him. And, ya know, when we have a fucking Center who can grab more than two rebounds in 16 minutes.

i wonder if ainge had any idea how butthurt rondo was going to be when perk was sent away. i figured he did it because he saw the magic move gortat and no longer thought he needed bigs over scorers.
still dont get that logic tbh

Hopefully the Bulls don't waste this shit. They've been playing from behind against Philly the whole game. Cut the lead from 23 to 4 early in the 4th and since then the Philly lead has been fluctuating between 4-8 points.

I get that losing Perk was an emotional one as well as a loss of their REAL toughness ...
But these losses lately seem like the Celts lost some heart ...i know they have plenty and will be there in the end ...but as much as they have owned the heat Celts playing with fire. Even if Bron develops a mysterious "timely" elbow injury ...he now has Wade on his side. And even though Bosh is a pussy ... Can KG punk him without Perk on his side?

There is a gag order with Media over this Perkins event. They not only can't talk about it, but, even if they do it won't see print, the light of day, or, sound.
They're stove up.
There needs to be a full vetting of the particulars.

It's much easier for KG to bully everyone when he thinks he's got backup. It seems to me that the team might have lost faith in not only management, but the direction of the team itself. The apologists say it was all about the future, but I don't see how these changes help them THEN either.

The problem is that the Celtics completely overrated players like Green (who is actually alright) NoNad Krystc, Troy "can't get playing time" Murphy, Sasha, Carlos "aint even a good enough point guard for the Heat" Arroyo, etc. Seemed like everyone was cheering when Murphy decided to sign with the Celtics. You have to know the true value of players.

Also, Danny Ainge killed that team. Kendrick Perkins absolutely WOULD HAVE resigned with the Celtics in the off-season for LESS. Guy seemed to love Boston. Also, Harangody/Erden for a 2nd round pick was incredibly stupid. So you send away a couple players with chemistry and size in order to make room for Sasha Pavlovic and Troy Murphy?

Perkins was the fear factor for the Celtics. The very soul of that team. He knew our deepest fears and thru that knowledge, that innate capability the Celtics as a whole were able to exploit us.

If you really want to get down to it, Sheed was the bigger loss than Perkins. As soon as his grey patch rode into the sunset last summer the Celtics title chances were fucked. They tried to mitigate with Shaq and JO but it just wont work.

No. Wallace could no longer do it to us "alone" as he had in Detroit. Once Perkins went down last June Wallace was finished and everybody knew it, especially the Lakers. There was blood in the water and Kobe about when cuckoo with the anticipation.
Wallace was to Perkins what Powe had been to him. The loss of Powe was a harbinger for the Celtics. They've been retreating ever since.

Wallace was the reason Boston got up and stayed up early in game 7. He gave them the shooting of Kristic + the toughness of Perkins. Soon as he retired, along with Perks injury, it was game over.
If they'd have kept him last summer and not signed anyone else, they'd be good as gravy going into the playoffs right now. Oh, he'd have coasted regular season again, just like last year. But come gametime that boy came ready to play. My biggest fear this spring was that he was just waiting for the PO's, biding time, and would resign with the C's for the April run.
Lucky for us, the only green Wallace is seeing is the Mr. Nice Guy in his pipe. Old trusty from the dorms at Carolina, probably never threw it away.
Instead they signed Troy Murphy, and traded their only remaining interior. If the O'Neal boys dont rise out of the lazarus chamber like Ra's Al Ghul, they'll have only themselves to blame for what comes next.

But, Wallace wanted to come back this season (late), he just received no encouragement from Ainge & the Celtics front office. Gotta be the money. He (Wallace) was foolish enough to walk away from that multi million dollar contract and the Celtics weren't going to let him back in. There's a gentlemen's agreement there in MA. over all this messy business with Wallace & Perkins. Media & the Celtics are in league together to keep it off the "papers."///like Tiger Woods and his piccadillos. Like Woods though, if it goes South for the Celtics in the playoffs they'll have to lift the gag order and then we'll get "the once upon a time." And it's gonna be a doozy.

Sheed played the best that he could that Game 7, and I won't fault him for that. However, with Perkins down, we had no other reliable C. If we had Perk/Sheed for Games 6 and 7, things might be different.
Instead they signed Troy Murphy, and traded their only remaining interior. If the O'Neal boys dont rise out of the lazarus chamber like Ra's Al Ghul, they'll have only themselves to blame for what comes next.
Yup. I half-expected them to sign Sheed for the playoffs too.
