Ubisoft Using Pirated Soundtrack in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Deluxe Edition

Ubisoft drew the ire of PC gamers last year when it introduced its "always on" DRM technology in an effort to thwart piracy. Now, in a strange twist, it appears Ubisoft will be selling a pirated version of its own soundtrack in the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Digital Deluxe Edition.

EuroGamer reports that Reddit user "plginger" noticed something strange after downloading the soundtrack included in the digital deluxe edition of Brotherhood: each song was encoded by an "arsa13." Googling that tag, the Reddit poster discovered it is linked to a ripped and torrented version of the soundtrack from the previously released Xbox Collectors Edition Soundtrack for Brotherhood.

Breaking it down further: it appears Ubisoft downloaded the torrented version of its own soundtrack, which was posted on BitTorrent site Demonoid by arsa13 four months ago, converted it to lower quality MP3 format, and included it in the Digtal Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Asked for comment, Ubisoft said it is now investigating the matter.
