Tito pulled out of this fight and now is stuck fighting Bader..

:lmao

He got beaten up by Hamill, now he fights a superior version of Hamill. Dana is trying to retire him, he's tired of paying Tito $200K to show up and get knocked around by obviously better fighters. Love Tito as a coach, but he's been done as a fighter for a long time. Now with Jones as King of LHW, he has less than a zero chance of being a champion.

I don't even think Tito would be a good training partner for Jones.. And he has to know he is done. I really think he is just hanging around for the pay-days..

After watching some youtube vids of things Davis would like to add to his game, he mentioned a spinning back kick. And today in a video interview with Ariel Helwani, who asked if he had anything new he was working on or surprises for his fight against Lil' Nog, Davis responded "yeah I have a few surprises".

So hopefully it is the spinning back kick; striking is the one aspect he needs to work on to become an elite in MMA.

I honestly think that Davis is one of the few guys in the light heavyweight division who can match up Jon Jones' strength and athleticism.

Nogueira - I hate picking him, but Davis is gayer.
Hardy - I hate picking him too, but he needs this win badly.
Sadollah - I'm tired of watching him lose.
Garcia - I love this guy, and I hate Asians.

MAIN CARD
* Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Phil Davis
- Davis SHOULD win a unanimous decision, but I see the potential for him to be sub'd in the 3rd.
* Dan Hardy vs. Anthony Johnson
- Johnson is a big boy, and unless Hardy has Kos-level wrestling, I think Johnson's reach and power will give him a lot of problems early. Johnson via TKO.
* DaMarques Johnson vs. Amir Sadollah
- Very balanced fight, might end up being an exciting back and forth against the cage, but Amir probably takes the safe decision.
* Leonard Garcia vs. Chan Sung Jung
- Two guys that became buddies trying to knock each other's heads of for FOTN bonus. You know that's their plan, so hopefully their chins back it up once again. Chang gets this via UD 29-28.

MannyIsGod
03-26-2011, 11:14 PM
Phil Davis didn't look too hot though. That stretch at the end of the 2nd was good, but otherwise I thought he looked very awkward on the ground.

Stringer_Bell
03-27-2011, 01:41 AM
I think Davis was bothered by injuries more than usual. He definately didn't look as strong or fast as I expected, and part of that was due to Lil Nog having great TD defense. Davis managed to switch to single leg, sure enough Lil Nog had much less success defending that because they prolly spent more time on the double-leg. Davis definately passed this test tho, his striking has improved and I think with a better camp (not on late notice like this one) he can be ready for the Machida/Coutre or Bader/Ortiz winner.

I thought it was great that Hardy came out with Big Country, but they obviously weren't working on wrestling/grappling. Hardy is looking like a can crusher compared to elite competition.

CubanSucks
03-27-2011, 03:11 AM
Was I the only one pissed at the Hardy/Johnson fight? 2 guys who are known for brawling more than any other fighters in the UFC and after 100% of his UFC wins being ko, suddenly Johnson decides to use his wrestling? Fucking coward move IMO. With that said, Hardy's a fucking dumbass for not improving his wrestling since GSP.

I know this is all sour grapes considering I'm a huge Hardy fan and was expecting an absolute throw down

MannyIsGod
03-27-2011, 03:20 AM
Coward move? WTF? Yeah - its all sour grapes. Johnson obviously improved his ground game and was smart as shit in this fight. I didn't think it was boring at all.

You weren't the only one pissed though. The arena was filled with people like you.

I know it's all sour grapes, I wasn't asking, shit stain. And fuck you comparing me to the meatheads at the events that boo at the first sign of wrestling. My favorite fighters are Fitch, Hughes, and Hendo. I just found it ironic that Anthony "Rumble" Johnson didn't want to rumble at all, and conveniently in a fight with a fellow striker. Even though I didn't say it in my last post I'll go ahead and say that considering he spent like 90% of his time on the ground in half guard or full guard never advancing, it was boring.

Davis won the fight but the "He can challenge Jones" talk needs to stop for a while. His wrestling and striking is not where it needs to be..

Hardy might be done with the UFC after that. Fights like that make you feel he was incredbly underserving of that title shot he got. His TDD isn't just bad, it's non-existant.

I would like to see Bader vs. Davis honestly. For me, Bader looked better throughout the match against Nog than Davis did. Bader wasn't afraid of getting in there and swinging, where Davis was obviously a little "scared" per say...

That was my first idea when thinking of matchups for Davis. Put him through the meat grinder that is Forrest and see if he comes out the other side
