Next 4 games will show some serious resilience if we can gut them out without Timmy!

Yep. I dont see why not.

Not having Duncan is a bad thing but it shouldn't matter too much that they cant win without him. Well at least to teams like the Nuggets and the Hawks.

Denver has a lot of weapons, too, and is playing solid ball right now.

I think the Spurs will be able to hang, but I expect it to be a tough game.

This should be a really fun game. Neither team has any tape on anybody. The Lakers and Suns set the record for scoring last night. The Spurs and Nuggs could top that in regulation.

This will be a tough game. Denver is playing great.

Denver is a tough matchup for the Spurs defensively. They have a lot of long bodies that can score. The good news is that the Nuggets aren't that great defensively (they allow the most ppg of any WC playoff team). The Spurs will have to play above par team D and uptempo offense to win this game. Tony and Manu will both have to have big games and Blair/McDyess/Splitter will have to play focused defense to make up for Duncan's absence. RJ, Hill or Neal will have to be an X factor.

Should be a fun game to watch.

as everyone else, i wanna see Splitter play and play well hopefully. it'll be interesting to see how tired he gets since he's not really even in game shape and he's playing at a higher altitude. he's also playing against a physical front line. it'll be interesting to see how he handles himself, if he gets intimidated or not. it's definitely an opportunity for him to make a statement.

DesignatedT
03-23-2011, 03:16 PM
Splitter is well out of game shape. The altitude should give him some problems also. Not sure how many minutes he can handle at the moment. Hopefully around 25. He played that last game and was clearly fatigued leading to missed layups and him slowly getting back on D. Throwing him out there for anymore then that right off the bat isn't the right thing to do for him or the team.

im just hoping the officials let him be somewhat physical out there. he picked up 2-3 bs calls against the Warriors.

I think he'll start and probably play 20-25 minutes i hope. Pop's baby'd him all season long. I say just throw him out there and see if sinks or swims.

Since I have been wanting to see Splitter get time, and since I think the Spurs are better defensively with him in the rotation, and since I think the Spurs can't get past the Lakers or the Celtics without some lock-down defense, I think this couldn't be a better turn of events. It's too bad that Timmy had to get hurt, and I certainly wish Pop were smart enough to realize that defense has been buttering his bread all these years, but short of that, I'll take a little divine intervention. :)

Exactly. I think most people assume that Pop really meant he'll be back in 5 games. I see it as 8 games max. Either way, as long as he's back with a couple of games left, we should be fine.

It's not going to help us this year, but this offseason I think Timmy and the coaches will put him through a low-post clinic. All he needs is a reliable hook and a counter, say an up-and-under. A drop step would also be nice.

TP's touch on the teardrop is exceptional. Whenever he gets within 10ft of the rim he just flips it up there and rarely sees anything but net. Remember in his first two seasons how he couldn't finish at the rim? Now he can layup with either hand and tear-drop from 10ft in. Amazing. Here's to you, TP. :toast
