We don't know where it came from. A 100 mi long oil slick just happened to appear on the water. Amazing.

There was a leak at one place for i think 6 hours, but this could also be a crack in the sea floor that opened. Could be related to the "super moon" and the Japanese quake, with the movement of plates. Now don't peg me as saying this is what happened, I just keep an open mind.

No, I went by what was said in the OP, and already read an oil spill article yesterday, hence, the 6 hr. leak I mentioned.
