It's not like Jordan needs advanced stats to be better than Kobe. Teams like the Suns and Rockets that have grossly overused advanced stats have made massive fuckups in personal decisions.

Lol, no.

What would your understanding of the game be if you could never refer to advanced stats?

"advanced stats" were what fueled many to believe Bosh > Amare

Daryl, you stat worshipping faggot, get your nose out of the algorithms and onto the basketball court. Or just resign.

Adelman's a strong coach. If he got to coach a healthy Yao/T-Mac like that faggot Van Gundy, Rox would have made a stronger run in the playoffs. Van Gundy lived off of Thibodeau for so many years. Hopefully most of the front offices have figured that out so they don't overpay for that faggot.

Exactly. Alot of dumbass rocketfans want JVG back because they think he was the mastermind of that defense, when in fact like you said it was Thibodeau who was the genius. All JVG did was tell the players to "give the ball to Tracy and let him go to work", epic fucking fail

Yeah but when you see them side by side: http://spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156993 Its like night and day. Kobe's never lead the league in any advanced stat except usage rate (chucking factor), so he doesn't even have a real solid case by advanced stats to be the best player of his era let alone all time. Jordan crushes in both the eye test and the numbers test.

They have to be used as part of the picture obviously. Like you wouldn't judge a guy's defense just on blocks and rebounds. Many of them; TS%, rebound rate, turnover ratio, assist ratio, steal ratio, and block ratio, are so basic and inarguable though.

I'm not sure which moves exactly you're referring to in terms of Phoenix and Houston. Almost every advanced stat guy killed the Suns for last offseason. And big picture, the Rockets are in solid shape, they have a lot of assets, but this is a superstar driven league and they haven't been able to land any. Until/if they get one they will be mediocre. A GM operating on 1970s techniques could tell you that.

I'm a huge Amare fan. I've been on his side for a while in a ton of arguments. I base that on what I've seen (2005 WCF etc), but also, advanced stat wise, some of his TS% numbers are insane/mind boggling. Him and Bosh are comparable in many categories, but he just has that bona fide go to scorer ability, thats the separating factor.

Robert Sarver using "advanced analytics" is what made him determine Amare wasn't worth a max contract.

Sure, advanced stats nerds have failed in the NBA front offices, but you can obviously say the same about most "NBA people" that have jobs in the front office..every scout and GM has access to the same footage and information, for the most part, anyways..

Also, whether somebody is an advanced stat fan or not, it's telling that Kobe has been overshadowed by Gasol in the important/value to winning advanced stats(WP, WS/48, O/D rating, etc) the last few seasons IMO..the disparity between them is pretty significant, too..

It doesn't translate for Kobe, but it does for every other superstar that had multiple title runs..it's not like stats have a mind of their own and hate Kobe on purpose:lol..
