I really can't decide which I like more out of the first two. I had a new found respect for season 2 after the second watch, like most people.

4 is my absolute favorite, though. It's just some crazy stuff. You go from rooting for Carcetti, to hating his guts. The kids, Bodie, etc...

I think the problem with Season 2 is that although it's very good, the series is just not the same when it gets away from the streets. At least we can all agree that 5 is the worst.

No, I haven't watched The Wire.

I'm pretty pissed off that Homicide: Life on The Street got little fanfare, but The Wire is loved by everybody apparently.

I'll still watch it eventually, though.

Got the boxset of that too. Both great shows with terrific writing, but The Wire was a little edgier and each season addressed a different part of what's wrong with society. Season 1 will always be my favorite.

The other amazing thing about Season 4 is that McNulty is arguably the most important character in the series, at least on the police side, and he's barely in it. He's a great character, he's the closest thing to a lead in such an ensemble series, and he has like 30 minutes of screen time in the entire season, a season which some people laud as the best. What other show could you say that about? Would Cheers be good without Ted Danson?

IronMexican
03-24-2011, 11:50 PM
Yeah, I was checking out some stuff on The Wire the other day, and Freamon actually appeared in more episodes than McNulty.

It's this exact reason why I put Season 4 ranked 4th. It's amazing, but McNulty is probably my favorite character. Bad reason, but whatev

Homicide Life on the street is one of the most underrated series of all-time. Wire was too ...but not as much as "life on the street" .... But The Wire is the the best show in the history of television. Frank Pembleton was the best character on Homicide hands down. But the Wire has several characters in that "class".

Seasons?

Season 3 Had:
1. Mouzone and Omar on some OK corral type shit ...
2. The death of Stringer
3. Intro of Marlo
4. The Sunday truce?
5. Slim charles and Prop Joe being featured more ...
6. Some of the greatest lines:
7. Hamsterdam
8. Introduction of Carcetti

Mouzone - ... "Your homophobia is so visceral ..."
Lamar ... "I aint been in the place more than 10 minutes and you already calling me a cocksucker ..."

Pretty good list. I think Mike's one of the most underrated characters in the entire show (one of the reasons season 4 if my fav). I'd probably cut out lester and Brother Mouzone. Make room for Bodie and Chris Parlow. Gotta give some love to the muscle.

Hypothetical Wire Question: Assume Wee-bey was out of prison and still in Avon's crew in season 3 while Marlo and Avon were going at one another. Who gets the drop on who, Wee-bey on Chris, or vice versa?
