20-Second Timeout: Home Away
by Bill Schoening, the radio voice of the Spurs

When you look back at the way the regular season ended and the way the playoffs have gone, it's been a pretty remarkable run for the Spurs.
With Tim Duncan and Rasho Nesterovic nursing sprained ankles, Devin Brown's disc injury, and the various ailments accumulated by Manu Ginobili, the Spurs didn't exactly storm into the postseason with a great deal of momentum. There were some legitmate questions about the team's health and there was also concern about the team's inconsistency on the road. The Spurs were just one game over .500 away from the SBC Center.

The Spurs, however, have gotten to the NBA Finals because they have been able to overcome the injuries and have now won six of eight road playoff games. The Denver Nuggets had won 19 of 20 home games under George Karl, but went 0-2 at home against San Antonio in the first round. Seattle's fans were roaring from the opening tip in game six of the Conference Semifinals, but the Spurs fought hard and executed well down the stretch to clinch the series on the road. Phoenix had an impressive 31-10 home record at America West Arena during the regular season, but lost three in a row at home to San Antonio in the Conference Finals.

The Spurs now have a chance to rest up before taking on Miami or Detroit, and they'll have homecourt advantage in the Finals, but thanks to their road success in the postseason, they'll have confidence when they hit the road for games three, four and five.
