Free agent deal that seemed over paid at the time and a trade: Thabeet for Battier. I think Houston got a Draft pick for him too. Good deals. Thabeet is now in the D League. Man would i like to get my hands on Battier. He would want to play with the Spurs when im done with him. He's like the SF we desperately need.

How did the Spurs get Matt Bonner?

Popovich was so impressed with how much Bonner reminded him of himself that he recruited him from an Airforce pick up game during a freak acciden in which he ran into a tree with an enternal flame saying to give him a chance?

I just wanted to take a shot at Rasho.

It's his fault we got Bonner. If he didn't suck so bad and we had to trade him we wouldn't have gotten Bonner back from the Raptors.

I think Pop initially picked him up because he was a great shooter and showed toughness when he was in Toronto (remember him taking down KG?) The problem is that there were no expectations there... no pressure at all, and no focus on defense. He hasn't been able to hack any of that here in SA, but Pop is still convinced that if he keeps playing him he'll learn. He won't.

I think Bonner would be best served like a Steve Kerr. Steve Kerr was a major part in our 2003 run and yet he didnt log much minutes whatsoever. If Bonner is as good as we know he is with the 3 pointer then let him come in when nobody expects it. Im not a big time coach or anything but i would definately highlight Matt Bonners expected appearance in a game as an oppurtunity to attack. Matt Bonner playing situational minutes would give the Spurs some unpredicatability which could prove more beneficial. If spreading the floor is that important why didnt we let kerr play more. I think pop has evolved in some bad ways recently. Bonner is not Horry and never will be. Let go of the plays Pop.

Steve Kerr wasn't in the last line of defense...

Steve Kerr had a prime Tim Duncan backing him up.

I might agree just a little bit with Scottie Pippen. I know he was trying to discredit Bruce a little bit, but he said something along the lines of he could be defensive player of the year every year if he had Tim Duncan behind him every night.

Tim really should have won a few defensive players of the year awards. if one of the all time greatest defenders like Pippen can recognize it I wonder why the retard voters couldn't?????
