Gregg Popovich after the Grizzlies game:

"I was really proud of them. We've had three tough road games. They pulled together pretty well and gave it their best shot. They just came out on the short end."

Blazers are fighting to hold on to 6th vs Dallas rather 7th vs Lakers.

I don't think the Spurs have any (effective) fight left in them.

With Duncan and possibly Ginobili out have a nice look at the future Spurs tonight. The doomsaying trolls are kicking up their heels. Wait, didn't the Spurs already have games at Portland, Denver and Memphis before this past weeks return trips? The teams' record for those previous three road games, when the Spurs were at full strength was 1 - 2. Yeah, that's right. If you can put down the bong long enough to remember, the one win was in Denver when Carmello Anthony ran over Manu under the Nuggets basket in the last seconds and was called for a charge. Look for Parker, Neal, Hill and Splitter to get the Spurs back in the W column against the Blazers.

Home court usually helps the bench players while the stars are stars because they can bring it at home or on the road. Without Timmy and Manu I want to see a)George Hill continue where he left against the Grizzlies and b) another solid defensive effort by Splitter against Aldridge. Play Tiago in the fourth, Pop - because its not fair to waste great games by Neal or Hill with such bad defensive plays by the Red Rocket or Blair !!!

Perhaps Lady Luck gets back on our side and Batum + Roy have to skip this game because of injuries as well ...

Three things I'm looking for tonight:
1. Hill continues his impressive play from yesterday (which was kept pretty quite due to the loss). In all honesty, he single handedly kept us in the game yesterday and should have got more touches at the end.
2. Pop gets over his stubbornness and plays Tiago when we need him.
3. We play small ball to match up against Wallace. This is the only team I think small ball would work against.

You can count on two of those. Guess which ones...

Small ball could work against the Blazers if Pop played Dice/Tiago as the lone big and not Dejuan Blair...

Adjustments for Tonight's Game:

-No TP on Andre Miller. Miller has routinely abused Tony over the years. I'd like to see Hill/Neal (i'd like to see Neal start) on Miller all night depending on who gets the start with TP on Matthews/Fernandez.

-Same plan against Aldridge. Spurs did a good job last game of sending the double on Aldridge's dribble and kept him shooting turnaround jumpers and long perimeter shots. Gonna have to contain him once again to have a chance.

-Limit Turnovers/Force Turnovers: Blazers are pretty good defensively when they’re set so Hill and TP have to push the tempo off rebounds and turnovers. Conversely, if we turn the ball over as much as we did in Portland then we absolutely have no shot. RJ/Bonner are both going to have to be big tonight as well.

I expect a similar game to Friday where the Spurs get out in front early and have to try and hold on against a pretty resilient Blazer team. Hopefully we get some calls to go our way like POR did and finally pull out a close one.

They'll win this game because they are at home and then Boston will come in and lose and everything will be back to normal...Honestly, this bitching about how Pop sux and how he doesn't know what he is doing is tiresome...The man has won 4 championships...and we are simply fans of the game...He gets paid and his record speaks for itself..Playoffs start shortly and that is all that matters...let's throw our comments in if the team gets beat in the playoffs..until then just be glad we have the record that we do and that we still have some room between us and the lakers..i am stationed at Barksdale AFB and would kill to go to any game to see my spurs win..the fact that you go to any game claiming they are going to lose is pathetic..What wonderful fans we have!!!:toast

Not that I agree with Lakerhater but when you have Tim out, ok, still Spurs could win easily. You then take another main piece out and you're left with almost nothing.

You cant count on Hill. He would go bananas on you one day then the next he's ghost.

There is just not enough firepower.

When was the last time Hill played exceptional two games in a row? Maybe its just me but I dont remember.

We need a 100% Efficciency to win this game which will not happen with the cast the Spurs have right now.

Blazers can cruise and not even play to their best to beat this team.

I didn't think it was possible, but we're inching closer and closer to giving it up. Lakers could conceivably win all but one or two of their remaining games. Blair has been shit most of the season.
