From The Daily Six Shooter (http://bit.ly/hZPiPe) at PlaymakerOnline.com (http://www.playmakeronline.com/):

It was especially frustrating for Houston to let a possible win in Miami slip away and then enter the locker room and find out that the Spurs couldn’t hold a late lead against the Memphis Grizzlies. With the loss, the Rockets fell back down to two games behind Memphis for the 8th spot.

Houston played as good as they have all season against the Miami Heat. Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin and Luis Scola had an answer for everything Miami threw at them. The three teammates combined for 82 points on nearly 50% shooting and dished out 14 combined assists as well.

The problem was that they couldn’t stop Miami’s “Big 3″ and the Heat overwhelmed the Rockets with their size. Miami played incredible efficient on offense, shooting 50% and also grabbing 17 offensive rebounds. Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh each had at least 30 points and they pulled down as many rebounds as the entire Houston team. Wade was the biggest key, though. With the game close, despite having a poor shooting night, he took over late in the 4th quarter and closed out the win. The Rockets played great basketball, but the loss still hurts.

Right now the Grizzlies are playing as good as any team in the league and seem more likely to climb past the New Orleans Hornets and that’s who Houston has to keep eyeing for the final spot. The Hornets lost to the Lakers last night and their next two games are against Portland and Memphis. If the Rockets can go 4-1 in their next five games (Nets, 76ers, Spurs, Hawks, Kings), they’ll set up a game against the New Orleans Hornets that will likely decide who grabs the final playoff spot in the West.
