From The Daily Six Shooter (http://bit.ly/gdX94m) at PlaymakerOnline.com (http://www.playmakeronline.com/):

While San Antonio might not host a Final Four in the near future (twice in the last eight years plus this year in Houston is a lot for Texas), according to the San Antonio Express-News, the NCAA committee was so happy with the regional hosts in the Alamo City that San Antonio should host many regionals in the future.

And that’s great to hear. There been legendary shots in San Antonio like Mario’s Miracle and one of the biggest moments in gambling history: Chris Duhon’s three-pointer at the buzzer to cover the spread between UConn and Duke in 2004. Plus, the layout of San Antonio is perfect for a regional or Final Four. There is tons of parking at the Alamodome with lots of entrances and exits so that traffic is never that bad. There are bars and restaurants within walking distance and it’s a very short drive to the downtown area, Riverwalk, and the Alamo. Lots of nice hotels are in the downtown area as well and if you don’t want to spend the money to stay there, there are plenty of choices inside the loop and the traffic is never that bad to get to the Alamodome on gameday.

Plus, while the Alamodome is more suitable for football or other large events, it was designed when the main tenants were the San Antonio Spurs. So unlike the awful conversion of many football stadiums to basketball courts most places suffer from, the Alamodome still looks great for basketball.

I’m looking forward to more regionals in the Alamo City.
