Tim was at a local dealership today and he said he is going to play Thursday.

I hope he's not being rushed back ahead of his injury rehab schedule out of the Spurs' sense of desperation to lock up the 1# seed.
I'd rather see us finish 2# in seeding, than have Tim risk further and unnecessary damage to his ankle because of coming back too soon.

Mehh...I was at the game last night. Timmy is just fine. He was happy and smiling which tells me he is recovering great. Plus, Pop wouldn't risk injury if they knew Duncan was not ready to play.
Manu was the only one of the four still somewhat looking stiff and very serious. I will really be surprised if he plays many minutes come Thursday.
I mean we're talking about conservative Pop here.:king
Maybe Pop's still got a little CIA left in him after all.

Duncan will play, and the Spurs will win, handedly.
Losing four games in a row + pride of this team = blowout

pop would not let him play if he wasn't ready to play, look for the team to be in full force and well practiced against Boston on Thurs.
I expect them to put a whooping on Garnett and the gang.
I want to see DeJuan Bear on Baby Shack Davis in this game.
I think that's an intriguing matchup.

NBA.com reports that Duncan (sprained ankle) and Ginobili (quadriceps contusion that had him hobbling out of the arena after Sunday's game) will be out again on Thursday when the Spurs take on the Boston Celtics (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/bos/), and at least the remainder of the week. (http://tbt.blogs.nba.com/2011/03/28/trail-blazers-at-spurs-830-p-m-et/) The site reports that Parker (left patella contusion) could also miss Thursday's game.
Pulling Parker, Duncan and Ginobili out of the lineup takes 48.6 points per game out of the team's usual lineup.

The rest of the NBA is screwed unless Pop messes it up:
Spurs now have a proven talented front line of Duncan, Dice and a main reserve Spltter with two reserves in Blair and Bonner that should see at most 10-12 points a game plus a commando type of hot shooter in Novak.
Spurs have the best backcourt in the league with Manu Hill, Parker and the balsy Neal and a player who at least plays half smart in Quinn.
Spurs have other role players that can step up.
Don't screw it up coaching staff and Spurs with me fine

..."They are getting there,” Popovich said. “We’ll just see how everybody looks tomorrow.”
...Duncan has been out for the most time since his injury early in the March 21 victory over Golden State. He has missed all of the games of his team’s recent four-game losing streak.
“He’s close,” Popovich said. “We just have to make a decision on it.”
...Parker said he could have played Monday night in an emergency situation.
“I always trust Pop and his judgment. He’s done that in the past,” Parker said. “I’m definitely going to feel fresh.”

We could all be sitting fine tommorow night late if the Mavs play well and beat LAL - One thing about the Mavs for all their ups and down they have been the streak stoppers several times this year. ...He said Duncan particularly appeared ready to play.
“There was one day where he went one-on-one and practiced,” Popovich said. “He had a full practice yesterday and felt better this morning than he has felt.”
Those strong signs enabled Popovich to make his decision on Duncan differently than normal.
“Usually, I make him beat me up if he’s injured before we get him back in,” Popovich said. “But this time, it was pretty obvious that he’s ready to go.”

Same. To me, barring injury, this is probably the last hope for Splitter to be in the rotation. If he can't get in after how he's played recently and how the team has struggled, particularly defensively, then he never will. Pop has a reason to drop Blair now (we can debate Bonner-Blair all day, but we all know Bonner is safe). The change always needed to be made, but you don't want to risk upsetting chemistry while you're steamrolling the league. Now, there's adversity, so there's an opening to make a change.
I hope Pop doesn't decide that, because the Celtics will be playing small (O'Neal will probably play sparingly, so it'll mostly be Krstic-Davis manning the middle), it's okay for the Spurs to as well and match-up by playing Blair vs Davis. He needs to stop matching up with the opposition and make them match-up with the Spurs. Make Davis have to guard Splitter.

Unfortunately, I've been saying this since May of 06'.
Back to the topic though..
God I hope Splitter plays. By playing, I mean over 15 minutes. Not 5-8 meaningless minutes.
One can pray I suppose.
