Looks like Pop has gone back to relegating Splitter to the 13th man in the depth chart, while Bonner has chucked his way to 10 minutes of ineptitude.
Bonner keeps hesitating, giving the defense time to recover. If he wants a white big that can play the floor, I'd rather have Novak at this point. If Bonner isn't hitting the 3, he's useless. Novak can at least equal that, right?
But Splitter should be out there, especially given the size problems the C's have at the moment with injuries.
And Dice has been playing with lots of energy. Pop inserting him into the lineup was not a mistake. He's been bringing it. His jumper's just off right now.

did pop play the blair bonner combo earlier in the game?
yes ... it did not hurt the Spurs looking at the score ... but perhaps we would have a lead with some minutes by Splitter

What's happening to Neal is absolutely normal for a rookie, he is/we are just unlucky he didn't hurt that ROOKIE WALL earlier.
Let's hope it doesn't last too long...

The problem with Dice is that he's strictly a jumpshooter at this stage in his career.
I don't think he's drawn a foul on anyone in 10 years.

I agree that at this point Novak is more effective than Bonner.

What is wrong with Pop, in all honesty, in the most fundamental sense ever?
Bonner in the lineup stretches the floor, but when he's in there alongside Blair you are asking to lose the momentum of a game. Games are won in the paint with rebounding, points in the paint, and most importantly a presence in the paint.
The decision to have this lineup in there is beyond retarded.
Pop is better than that, we all know.

DesignatedT or any other Bonner supporters, serious question...
How do you think Pop should handle Bonner's recent struggles and Splitters strong play? Bench bonner completely or let him play through it?
i'm obviously biased but I wanna know what the other side thinks.

If Doc can find time for Krstic, Pop can play Splitter.

We just made it too easy for Boston... stopped attacking the rim and settling for jumpers... We're playing right into their hands... sucks too because they haven't played that well either...

Bonner is goibg to become one of the most hated players of all time. How many years do we have to watch him fall apart come the end of the season. He must be a Mav or Laker fan at heart.

apples and oranges. Krstic is (was) the only healthy big they have left right now--and he's proven to be a serviceable player over the last several years (barring injury).
But in the end I agree...why the fuck is Splitter not out there?

Bench Bonner.
The most mentally weak and unathletic player on the roster should not be given the benefit of the doubt; especially considering his past performance.

i hope you guys get to post your "Bonner shitting on Spurstalk" posts later in this game.
Pop's going to have the same mentality with Bonner that he does with other shooters.
"Just keep shooting"
In Pop's mind, Bonner is probably due to hit 10 in a row.

Sadly, I too have come to purchase a ticket on the Anti-Bonner bandwagon. I want rebounds, post-play, and SOME defense...3 pointers just aren't doing it for me anymore.
This game is a perfect time to throw Tiago in to see what he's actually learned from the last few games. Watch how he reacts to a savvy veteran team that will get physical with him and force him to react accordingly. C'mon Pop, you can't be THAT blind.

i still hate how the Spurs defend Rondo. They literally sag off him so much that he gets to the paint at will and it creates so many open shots for their big 3....
he cant shoot but you have to mix it up against him.

Or, that guy that was starting for the Celtics earlier in the season before they traded him Urdih (or whatever his name is) . . . Point being, there are a lot of good teams that Splitter could get solid rotation minutes on.

Parker and Manu need to make quick decisions with the ball. I can't take any more idle dribbling. Team needs more ball movement, and to play more depth. I don't see what shortening the rotation is getting us. I'd rather rest the stars and play the B team compared to this.

He's a top 8 center in the league with starter's minutes. no doubt in my mind.

that subway jingle is catchy
Spurs will lose this game if they keep playing the same way and the Bonner/Blair lineup is revisited. Boston will not shoot almost an entire 7-8 percentage points better and not be leading eventually.

I like Splitter too, but I think that's stretching it a bit. Better than (starting centers right now): Perkins/Marc Gasol/Dwight Howards/Joakim Noah/Marcin Gortat/Lamarcus Aldridge/Tyson Chandler/Emeka Okafor/Andrew Bynum?

I'd take him over Gasol/Gortat. Aldridge is a PF.
Howard/Bynum/Noah/Chandler/Perkins/Okafor....
So yeah Splitter is definitely top 8 IMO if he gets the minutes.
I considered Varejao a top 10 Center in the league before this season and I think Splitter is a little bit better, fwiw....
