It does the team no good if he makes 3 three's for 9 points at a 50% clip when his defense is responsible for 15 plus team fouls which enable the opposition to get to the line earlier.

It's a vicious cycle. I would prefer that Splitter is getting hit square in the chest ant trying to close space and take fouls, while taking bad shots because for this team, D Is more important than O...but they don't play like that.
