I heard this arguement that fighting for the 1st seed in the west is not necessary what the Lakers or the Spurs want. The logic being that the 1st seed might actually have a more difficult road to the finals vs the 2nd seed. This is assuming the 1st seed goes through Memphis in the 1st round , then OKC in the 2nd round, vs a projected route for the 2nd seed the looks easier : 1st round Hornets (without West), 2nd round Dallas, With the way the Lakers manhandled a soft dallas team , you've got to wonder if they would rather meet Dallas , than a OKC team that has great upside. especially thoughness inside ( Perkins and Ibaka)

What do you think ?

I'd rather face the one and done boys in the playoffs, but you want home court against the Lakers. Doesn't matter, the Spurs aren't getting out of the first round if they don't start playing defense, and it's looking like they're in love with Bonner/Blair frontcourts.

That's because people keep assuming that Memphis is going to be the 8th seed, which most likely will not happen. Hornets will be in the 8th seed. They play Memphis twice before the end of the season and MEM is rolling right now.

And in terms of playing OKC vs playing DAL, I still like the Spurs chances against OKC better.

You heard wrong, asshole.
I'd love to make a Naruto reference here, but that actually made me laugh.

Since the Spurs have gone back to the half court game, for whatever reason, they will be lucky if they get out of the 1st round. I haven't seen them really push the ball in the past few games like they did all season.

Who cares about the seeds....If the spurs do not pick it up they are not going to make out of the 1st rd regardless of seeding..

if your goal is to reach the WCF = YES

If your goal is to be champion = NO

The logic is that beating the lakers 4 times with 4 games at home is easier then beating the lakers 4 times with 3 games at home

NO lost to MEM tonight. They are now tied with NO holding the tiebreak, don't expect NO to stay ahead for long.
