Fuck Pop, the fact that he was even in the running for COY this season would've been a disgrace to every previous coach that ever won it.

Not that you could ever disgrace an award given to Mike D'Antoni, Sam Mitchell, Mike Brown, Larry Bird, or Byronn Scott.

Pop is obviously a very good coach in most aspects... but its become pretty clear in the last 4 or 5 years that from 97-07 Tim made him appear a 'great' coach.

True. This year's embrace of significant PT for Hill, Blair, and Neal gave me hope.
Of course, Pop has gone Larry Brown on us the last several weeks with McDyess in the starting lineup, treating us to a reserve front court of Blair and Bonner. i.e., no defensive presence.
Meanwhile, Tiago rots on the bench because he doesn't have the "corporate knowledge" of scrub ass Bonner.

That's true, although a lot of people have said Arafat should have been awarded a second Nobel Peace Prize for dying.

Blame the FO...or lack of $$ from the FO -- not Pop. With Tim growing older, the FO needed to spend more $$ for a better supporting cast to win 2-3 more titles.
Expect this franchise to be gone w/in 5 yrs. The basketball gods were looking down on the Spurs with the decades of DRob and Timmy. But it's over now b/c you have cheap owner(s) who won't spend the $$ to bring new talent to S.A. Plus, the Kobe's and Lebron's who rule are all full of themselves. There aren't anymore Duncan's and Manu's in the world.

Eh, they inked Ginobili and Parker to extensions and paid ridiculous money to Jefferson and Bonner (stupidly on the last two counts, but they paid it). Holt was a penny pincher in 2007, saw how much it cost the team, and decided to go for broke trading for Jefferson's contract.

Dear Matt Bonner,
Thank you for your dead eye shooting throughout the season. Alot of the Spurs #1 record is bc of your great contributions from beyond the arc. That Miami game we won by 30 was fun...your 6 3 pointers made it a great game to watch.
Since then, however, you are shooting 12 for 50 from 3 pt land. Now I now you can smell the playoffs are just weeks away and that is obviously the reason for this decline. No worries...it was expected from us Spurs fans, but now if you would just have a seat on the bench while the REAL season begins, that would be greatly appreciated.

I feel bad for all the zero's in this forum going goo goo for kokoo flakes. They were so hung up on the best record, they couldn't see straight. The team just isn't that good. They dodged bullets all season long and it finally caught up with them. Where's Bonner's offense? Where's the improved Spurs defense? Where are all the knock down clutch shots one after another? Where is this multi-dimensional spurs offense? Where's Pop's sense of urgency?

The FO put the money... They made some good decisions (re-upping Manu, Tony, drafting Blair, Hill) and some bad ones (RMJ, Bonner over Scola, re-upping Bonner, RJ, extending Finley, etc). Some others you can only call in hindsight (ie: RJ being a bust), so I won't blame them for them.
But they put the money. Maybe they didn't want to touch the lux tax this season, but they're on the hook for the next few ones (pending the new CBA). Maybe the bad decisions lately outdone the good ones. I certainly agree the onus wasn't put on the bread and butter that gave us 'ships in the past.
I can't exempt Pop though. He's the VP of basketball operations, and an integral part of the FO. He gets the credit and the blame too.

How much are we paying Novak? He's got the same skill set as Bonner, and I'm guessing we wouldn't have had to pay him $4 million a year, either.
This is all on Pop.

So if Tim can't win because of Pop's bad coaching, does that mean Tim won because of Pop's not-bad, good? coaching?
I note that since Pop has cooled off, post-apoplectic, and stopped insisting "defend or sit", the Spurs defense has achieved mediocrity.

When you have a bunch of muthaf*ckers riding your coattail throughout your career like Duncan, you tend to get tired sooner. Kobe still fresh from being carried to his titles.

I disagree with that....Jerry Rice fits that description better than Emmitt. He had more help by far.

Please. Jerry rice is the best receiver ever. We are talking about Kobe Bryant. He is good. As huge laker fan,I can not deny this but as a Kobe hater, he is one lucky dude to be surrounded by such a stacked team. He makes a lot of mistakes but his team always bails him out. If he was with any other team, he would get exposed for the fraud that he is. Gasol is the center piece of the Lakers.

Anti Palestinian jokes aren't funny. If you want to poke fun at somebody how about the cruel, bloodthirsty Israeli's and their immoral Occupation of Gaza and the West Bank? Now there's a real laugher.

More like a Laker troll. Kobe is better than good. He isn't the player he once was but the Lakers don't win without him. Obviously, you need a solid supporting cast if you want to win championships. No one player on the Lakers can deliver a ship without help.
Gasol, the centerpiece? Remind me again how many championships Gasol delivered to Memphis?

Yes Jerry Rice is the best receiver ever, no doubt about that. But let's not forget that he has never been without a Pro-Bowl QB in his career, 2 of them are in the HOF, and 3 of them were league MVPs. As great as Jerry Rice was, he was also lucky to be surrounded by a stacked team. After all, the 49ers did go 15-1 and win the Super Bowl the year before Jerry got there. I also agree with everything you said about Kobe.

The guy has spent years in the Spurs system, yet he still needs to be directed where to go on the floor almost EVERY game.
