Ran into him this afternoon, around 1530, at the Whole Foods Mkt in the Quarry. He was with a group of fairly young looking guys.

Felt like i should say something witty to him, but decided to just pass. Not sure many people even recognized him. Heard one guy at the check out mention it, but thats about it.

Should have told him to take Rodman's example and stop shooting and just rebound the ball.

"hello" would be a good start. I wouldn't say anything smart ass. He's a big dude. Hate to see you on a youtube beatdown video.

Rodman was quicker, a better rebounder, AND defender, though.

Well its a good thing he was at Whole Foods. I thought it looked like he was putting on weight. Maybe someone told him to drop 15 lbs.

Haha...sorry got side tracked yesterday.

He had about 5 guys with him. All fairly young and dressed similar. My guess is younger family members.

I didn't say anything to him. At first i wasn't sure it was him, he looked like him, but i didn't want to just assume any big black guy that was dressed flashy and had a posse must be a basketball player.

After a few glances and hearing him talk, i was certain.

Unless you just randomly walk up and talk to people whom you don't know I'm not sure why you would say anything to Blair.

Blair is the the weakest interior defender the Spurs have, even worse than Bonner.

Blair is no Rodman, but he could learn from Rodman on doing one thing and doing it well. Blair tries to do too much and ends up doing very little.

Blair does some good things, but he gets cheap fouls and that keeps him off the floor.

The Spurs team defense is bad, it's not one person's fault other than the GM.

Blair has some very good talent in him, but his mind tends to drift. IF only he could keep his focus he would be very beastly on a consistent basis.

Hands down bonner is the worst defender, blair gets worked defencivelly, but not the way bonner gets regularly abused by the worst scrubs.

Tonight it seemed that everyone who shot over Bonner made their shots. I think they know Bonner doesn't jump, and he's not a shot blocker, so it's like shoot around. The same players miss when even smaller guards are on them.

...I asked Coach Pop during his presser about lineups featuring DeJuan Blair and Matt Bonner, hoping to get some reasoning to pass along to y’all about why he plays them together. I got none.”Well, I don’t like those two together more than I do any other two, it’s just the way the substitutions go. They’re going to be on the floor together, whether I like it or not. You got to put two other guys in, and they’re the subs. If they’re doing well, I like it. If they’re not, I guess I don’t.”

Obviously, Coach Pop is being a little coy. There are reasons he likes playing Blair and Bonner together, but he’d rather not say too much. And asking Pop straight up why he likes to play Blair over Splitter will get me a death stare and no response. It’s not being brave enough to ask questions with Pop, that’s not that hard. It’s asking questions that will get you genuine answers that is difficult.

Great job by Andrew A. McNeill. At least he isn't afraid to ask. McDonald is Spurs beat writer since 2007 and is still afraid to ask questions
