Dwight takes more than 10 seconds to shoot a FT, so the ref waves it off.

Then he bitches, even though the call was legit

Technical foul, 18th of the season

Will miss Sunday's game vs Bulls

Will that game be on ABC?
If yes, then LOL ABC/Espn

That sucks. I'd rather Howard play in the game. It would have been a nice playoff preview and I'd rather the Bulls face as many good teams as possible to get ready for the postseason. Howard is a freakin idiot though. Last time he got a tech for a suspension he was playing the Bulls :lol

He was already called for that once this year. The time I saw it, it was bizarre because it never gets called, but he took like 15 seconds and the ref just finally got tired of waiting.

Funny they start enforcing this rule now... I remember in the 90s the fans used to count down when Karl Malone was at the free throw line.

Howard is definitely a baby, but he's becoming a target from refs, at this point, tbh..sucks to be a big man in this era..

That's the 2nd time this season. He did that against the Celtics too.

tbh, dwight gets no breaks. i'm pretty sure there's been 2 ten second violations this year, and both of them have been on dwight. don't fucking tell me dwight's the only guy taking longer than 10 seconds for charity throws in the NBA.

I've seen Dwight take it to the extreme. Karl Malone used to stretch it to about 12 seconds. Dwight can go for 15+ at times. Sometimes it takes him 10 seconds just to hold the ball and exhale :lol

that's his problem takes too long on free throws.

Dude, Dwight, you're not suddenly gonna get better at free throws. Just shoot them.

Malone regularly took it to 15+ seconds.

It seemed like Malone would bend his knees for 30 seconds. He was ridiculous

The one I saw earlier in the year, he took it to about 15 seconds and then just completely paused with the ball at his waist for like another 2-3 seconds. The ref just got fed up and called it tbh

That clip is the shit I'm talking about right there :lol He took 10 seconds just to fuckin hold the ball, exhale and take his first dribble. Then he dribbles the ball like he has an eternity. He was at 15 seconds and wasn't even going up into his shooting motion yet. How can a ref not call that? It's ridiculous. Karl Malone wasn't that deliberately slow.

Tim Duncan fans do not get to complain about how long anyone takes to shoot free throws- although he has been better about it lately. I can not remember where I was that the fans started to count his out loud, as well.

That's one of the first things I thought of when I came into this thread. He's been at better than 10 seconds many times and has never been called for it. Even announcers at games have mentioned it before. But as you said, he's gotten better.

That was a really expensive 10 seconds for Dwight. Going to end up costing in $2,000 just for the tech, and then about $193K for the game he's going to miss because of it. Ouch.

Okay...so that's $195K for 10 seconds * 360 10 second periods in an hour = $70.2 million an hour equivalent. :lol

What part of getting paid millions to do what you did as a kid to have fun is the sucky bad part? An besides there's no crying in basketball, unless they're tears of joy from winning a championship or if your a Heat player. That's the only way.

Dwight Howard’s technical upheld, suspended for Sunday (http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/07/dwight-howard%e2%80%99s-technical-upheld-suspended-for-sunday/)
Kurt Helin

So that big Bull against Magic game for Sunday just got a lot less interesting.

Dwight Howard’s technical for throwing the ball Wednesday after being called for a foul for shooting slow free throws has been upheld by the league.

He is suspended from Sunday’s game because this is his 18th technical this season. Players serve a suspension for technical number 16 (Howard served that back on March 7) and every two after that.

The slow free throw call did not sit well with Howard and he complained about it after the game. He’s right and he’s wrong. Thing is, he got called for this same thing back on Christmas Day against Boston (and got a technical for his reaction then, too). This is a pattern. He has to speed up his free throw shooting routine.

You can bet your paycheck that in the playoffs opposing teams will be all over the refs to call this. You can expect crowds in some cities to chant/count to 10. This is going to get bigger, not smaller. What’s more, when he gets called for this (or any other foul or non-call, fair or not) he has to control his reaction. That us usually what draws his technicals. Orlando is not going to win in the playoffs without him, and while the technical counter resets at the start of the playoffs he only needs to get to seven to be suspended again.

But Howard and Stan Van Gundy were right in their post game comments that the 10-second rule is called inconsistently. It’s not that hard for a referee to make the count, it should happen every time or not at all. Enforce the rule or don’t, but spare us the selective stuff.

All that is talk. What matters is no Howard Sunday.

Sunday's game against the Magic won't matter to the Bulls anyway. Barring some HUGE letdown they'll clinch #1 seed tomorrow against the Cavs.
