I think for the most part the Spurs can get pretty aggressive when it matters, but all I would like to see out of tomorrows game is Blair and Splitter getting in there and scrapping, possibly picking up a few Technicals in the processes. I don't care about them winning this game so much, I just want the Spurs to send a message that they are not scared of anyone! I think intimidation is a big factor in the playoffs. Just look at the Mavs, they always crap the bed in the playoffs against the Spurs. Sooo get out there tomorrow and rough em up for the first round, and hopefully give them an O&6 fest of their own. :flag:

The Spurs have every reason to mail in tomorrow night's game, if only because an LA win assures that they will be either 2 or 3 and keep them out of the 4 spot.

Conceivably, if the Spurs win at Staples tomorrow, LA could end up with 27 losses and, if OKC wins out (@SAC, v. MIL), would drop LAL (v. SA, @SAC) to the 4 spot (assuming no similar swoon for Dallas (@HOU, v. NOH)).

No matter how great your belief in the Spurs' ability to beat LA, you'd have to guess that the Spurs would rather see LA in the Conference Finals and (assuming both can make it there) and not in the WCSF (assuming each would make it there).

The team looked pretty gassed against PHO last year and it's pretty much the same team.

Regardless, it would still probably be in the Spurs best interest if LA stayed in the 2nd/3rd seed. And Pop has never been one for sending messages, especially against Phil and the Lakers.

Playing the Big 3 tomorrow poses much more risk than reward and I'm pretty sure Pop will err on the side of caution as he always has...

I don't necessarily dispute that, but if being gassed is the question, there's every reason to think that they won't go after the game at LA tomorrow night (at least, that's what I think).

I agree that last year, the fatigue was pretty evident against PNX. But things were a bit different last year. The Spurs were playing hard right through the end of the season just to make the playoffs and then to try to get the most favorable seed that they could get. They only had the luxury of resting players on the last night of the season in Dallas (because they knew then that they would be the 7th seed). That team also had a very short bench (at least in terms of reliability).

I think the Spurs are where they hoped to be at this point. They are healthy, they have the best record in the league and there's a good chance the defending champs might not get out of the 2nd round. The Spurs would love to see Dallas in the WCF.

Honestly, you cannot ask for much more with this team. You can ask for different players, and more time for some, less for others, but as far as where they stand right now, it's about as good as it can be.
