The Spurs have won their 4 championships the only 4 possible ways:

4-1 1999
4-2 2003
4-3 2005
4-0 2007

They have always had homecourt on the Finals.

That said, I think they may lose to Chicago this year in the Finals :depressed

If the Spurs make it out of the West, they will beat the East team, no worries.

if we beat LA or whoever we play against in the WCF (if we get there) I think we can beat Miami, Chicago, they have no experience in the playoffs/finals, or a disminished Celtics. The only worry would be starting the first two games in chicago, but it's a long way till that, let's focus first in eliminate the tanking gremlins

its sad to throw this out there but noah got hurt today guys lol you ever notice?? when its our year, its our year strange things happen, and not even the refs can stop us. <--- (lucy knows they've tried) we catch big breaks and lets just pray we dont see the bulls in the finals, however i think if we get to the finals theres no stopping us, and rose is super young lets just say if we lose ...well we probably deserve to, and rose will become the new jordan protege:wakeup

TimVP, you are one of the few Spurs fans whose posts I always read. They are well thought out and you also consider all sides of whatever the issue.

Having said that, I have to respectfully disagree with your assessment. Both the Spurs and the Lakers have that "sixth" man (or 12th man in football), and that is their coach. I remember the Pistons cleaning our clock in games 3, 4 and 5 in 2003 and the Spurs seemingly out of it. They came home and took games 6 and 7. It was the same two teams. We had Pop, and the players respond to him. On the other hand, the Lakers are moody, pissed, and bored with it all. They may be bounced long before the western finals. Other than Rivers, there is no one in the east resembling a sixth man on the team (aka COACH).

Something very profound was said last night by Kenny Smith. The Spurs don't have the best record because of a fluke in their season. Winning has become a habit. There are far too many guns on this team for any other result.

Nonetheless, I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

Make that 2005, instead of 2003.

It wouldn't be a disappointment as much as just emotionally draining, to get so close and not get it, but that would only last a short while. I would look at it the next day as a very successful experiment by Pop and RC, and be glad Tim got to the show one more time before retiring.

2003 jefferson got dominated & was horrible
2005 dice made crucial mental mistakes & turnovers ....

I think you're confusing Dice with Sheed...Robert Horry, anyone?

Spurs wont even make it to the Semi Conference let alone the Finals. lol

Getting out of the second round should be the Spurs goal. Because, they will lose to the Thunder.

The Spurs will never lose in a finals.

i don't know. i'm stuck on two things, neither of which comes anywhere near to analysis, just sickening feeling: the spurs have run the cycle in terms of games needed to win a title: 4 against cavs, 5 against knicks, 6 against nets, 7 against pistons. they've no shot at a repeat so the only thing left that they haven't gone through is to make it but lose. and i'm stuck on chi reminding me a lot of green bay's super bowl run against a tested team. superstitious nonsense but, hell, we talk about jinx and luck and whatever all the time.

Can you take another peek at the crystal ball and give us the over/under for the Finals? Maybe tell us which of those teams is going to knock out Cleveland?
