View Full Version : So, what do the Mavs do tomorrow?..

HarlemHeat37
04-13-2011, 12:25 AM
If they tank the game, OKC gets 3rd, Mavs get to avoid the Lakers in the 2nd round..

They could play hard for the 2nd seed, but they will have to hope the Lakers lose, so they won't be able to rest their guys..2nd seed is nice, because they would get New Orleans instead of Portland, but if LA wins, which is very likely, they stay 3rd, but risk injury in the final game..

I don't see a big difference between 3 and 4, Denver and Portland will both cause trouble..

What should the Mavs do?..

Stringer_Bell

After tonight, if I was the Mavs I'd go for the win tomorrow because the Kings will body up on the Lakers and pound them out with a depleted bench and tired starters.

If the Spurs C-team can almost beat the Lakers on their home floor, you better believe the Kings can beat the Lakers at home in the last game at Arco Arena....

I thought if the Mavs and Thunder end up with the same record (Which would happen if Dallas loses tomorrow and OKC wins) that OKC has the tie-breaker?

ManuBalboa

They are used to getting knocked out in the 1st, so I'm not sure they care about embarrassment anymore...but you'd think they would at least want the guranteed ticket to 2nd round and aim for N.O.

Or it could be the other way around. OKC rests their starters in a loss, LA beat Sacto, while the Mavs try to tank it to claim the 4th seed. Down 2 to the Hornets with the ball, Carlisle asks them not to score. Terry throws up a wild shot with the clock running down, ball banks off the backboard and drops in. Mavs get the 3rd seed and a series vs Portland.

I think SAC has a great chance to win tonight. Final game ever in SAC vs the hated Lakers. The atmosphere in that arena formally known as ARCO should be crazy. Mavs need the #2, they will probably play LA at some point so it's better to have HC whether it be in the semi's or WCF

The Mavs won't be able to tank the game tonight because the Hornets will be tanking even harder. If the Hornets win tonight, they play the Lakers in the first round, and I think they would avoid that scenario at all costs.

Crowd's amped, booing the Lakers and (primarily) Kobe with all they've got in 'em, only to keep it close for about a quarter before LA stomps a mudhole in their collective asses...and all the hype and emotion of the day fades about as quickly as it came on.

Not saying they're not talented in the grand scheme, but when put up against LA's starting 5 (w/ or w/o Bynum), they can't stack up.

And Cousins is about as immature and volatile a big as they come. He makes some of Wafer's and Beasely's antics look tame by comparison.

Still, I would love nothing more than for LA to get embarrassed tonight...
