As has been mentioned, I don't think anybody fears the Memphis Grizzlies. They're not going to beat the Spurs in the 1st round. However, there are fans, including myself, that would prefer this:

To this:

Memphis/OKC

Simply because Memphis is a more physical team than New Orleans. The Lakers would smash New Orleans even without Bynum (so they could potentially rest him for the entire series), and most likely wouldn't have too much trouble with Dallas in the second round either, especially if Bynum returns. That means a well-rested, healthy, confident Lakers team meeting the Spurs in the WCF after the Spurs just played multiple games against two very physical teams.

Memphis is not a concern. But what I wrote above is.

Again (again!? yeah, again...) the Spurs can certainly get through Memphis and OKC/Denver, and they can potentially beat the Lakers in the WCF, and they can possibly beat the representative of the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. BUT... it would be a lot more beneficial to the Spurs if the Lakers didn't get the combo platter of Hornets/Mavericks, especially if the Lakers have homecourt in each series. Great post. Yes I think Grizz has the better frontcourt. But the spurs have a wayyy better backcout (TP, Manu, hill, Neal) and without Gay ...RJ's suckage will be less of an issue. Unless Mayo steps up big-time (he has had some success vs. Spurs) and Conley can stay with Parker I dont see how Grizz win more than 2 games ...but they dont get swept. they get their first playoff win.
