Doesn't matter who's better if Pop doesn't fit you in. 07 Oberto wasn't a rookie, 07 Oberto was trusted by Pop, 07 Oberto had a season's worth of chemistry with the starters, therefore, I go with 07 Oberto.

What about 07 "Umberto?" as Reggie Miller called him.

Exactly.

The more apt comparison is 2011 Splitter v. 2006 Oberto. Both were the 5th big in a 4 Big rotation where the 4 other Bigs were all experienced in the system.

2011 Splitter has been much more productive than 2006 Oberto.

Oberto/59 games with zero starts/8.3 mpg/1.7 ppg/2.1 rpg

Splitter/59 games including 6 starts/12.4 mpg/4.7 ppg/3.4 rpg

Its a fair comparison in terms of experience, but the situation was much different.

Oberto joined a team that was fresh off a championship. The 4 bigs in front of him were a prime TD, Big shot Robert Horry, Rasho and Nazr. We didn't necessarily need Oberto's size or skills right at the moment.

Splitter's more talented and has a better NBA body but '07 Oberto had more experience with the Spurs.

Splitter isn't afraid to try any of his post moves and has much more talent and potential on that end of the court. Oberto really only scored on wide open layups delivered from Manu.

Defensively, Splitter seems much more mobile and again has more talent and potential than Oberto. Splitter is especially great at taking charges and altering paths to the lane.

Oberto had a lot of chemistry with Manu which can't be underrated considering Manu's playmaking. Blair benefited a lot from Manu's looks last season. By comparison it seems like Splitter hasn't had as many overall opportunities as either Blair or Oberto but this is just from memory.

Splitter>>Oberto

Oberto had past his prime when he came to SA.He was a few better here in Spain but he wasn't in the same level.

Blair had more opportunities as he was the 4th big on the 2009-10 team.

Rookie Splitter has had more opportunities than rookie Oberto, but both were the 5th big on their teams.
