Anyone remember these? I don't see them anymore but I remember watching House Party on one back in the early '90s I think.

I also saw Home Alone on one I think, but I was probably not really watching it

The last one I saw was a special showing of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Aliens. It was some pseudo-Halloween double feature that marked the closing of the local Los Altos Drive-In that is now an expanded car dealership and K-Mart.

There's still a few drive-ins around the country. I saw the first Pirates of the Carribean at a drive-in in central Pennsylvania. It's already closed down since then though.

Wish there were more of them still around.

The Shining...but it was interrupted by a tornado that destroyed the screen. We all had to take cover, very scary stuff. True story.

Rambo II, it was awesome

The drive-in died because the bench seat in the auto industry died. :depressed

That makes total sense...and I think I saw one in my mom's old cutlass (or was it a T-Bird)...and that had a bench seat.

They opened one just outside of the city I live in that plays first run movies. I've talked to a lot of people who have gone and they say it's great. I've been meaning to go check it out but since it's kind of out of my way so I never think about it. My sound system in my car is on par with most theater sound, so it might be pretty cool.

I go to the drive in to see a ton of movies. I go at least once a month. It's only $6.00 per person for either 2 or 3 movies back to back. It's awesome. Brand new movies.

Wish I had one of those deals where I live. It'd be the perfect date idea

Great date place. My girlfriend loves it. It's really a fun place to go and I like it a lot. Plus it's cheaper than going to the movies at a normal theater.

The theater I normally go to doesn't seem to care how long you stay after the price of admission(eight dollars). I'll usually go on a Sunday and watch three/four movies in a row. The food is ridiculously overpriced though.

Go most every weekend in the summer; large field in front of the screen has a swing/jungle gym - kids playing football, etc....then the double feature; everyone tail-gating/laying out on blankets. Good times. Usually see month-old first run movies.

Small town, Western Pa. (pic I found is a couple of years old)
