This guy has no fear. In the starter's absence , even though the Spurs lost to LA, he never backed down. Even when he is cold, he never backs down. Neal is a nice guy and humble in interviews but he's got ice for blood and fears nothing. If not for Manu's shadow I'm convinced Neal could have had big time stats this year. He's one of the best finds of the Spurs FO and will be key for the playoffs.
Gary IS the truth and is one of the reasons we have a good shot at winning it all.

Six consecutive playoff series losses (longest streak in the league belongs to Portland). Congrats to the lone Blazer fan on this website.

Neal is a gladiator, whose killer instincts mirror those of Manu, Kobe and Michael.

What really impressed me about Neal was re-watching that Spurs/Lakers game...
towards the late stages of the game Artest tried to muscle Neal on the sidelines and was pretty physical...but Neal put his head down and bulled his way to the basket and left Artest in the dust while he hit a floater or two....
A lot of players will either lose the ball to Artest and/or pass it off or commit a turnover...(see Durant--before Perkins arrived to screen Artest)
I think this will translate well for Neal in the playoffs.

What I like about Neal is that he's always guaranteed to hit shots in the 4th quarter. You always want him starting the 4th quarter to help the team go on a run. Let's hope he continues this in the playoffs.

I noticed the same thing. He is fearless, and tough.

If there was ever any doubt about Neal's ability to perform under pressure, check this out:
In the space of a year, the 26-year-old rookie has gone from European league mercenary to summer league star to key rotation piece for the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
All of which begs the question — from fans and media, and perhaps even some of Neal’s coaches and teammates: Can he keep it up in the crucible of the NBA playoffs?
Neal answers that question with a question.
“Have you ever been hit by a hot quarter?” Neal said.
Neal spent the first three seasons of his professional career in the wilds of Europe, where dodging coins flung from the cheap seats is not just an artform, but a means of survival. Often, metal could meet epidermis at greater than room temperature.

I have more confidence in this kid than probably any other Spurs role player since Robert Horry and Stephen Jackson.
WHile this may indeed be his first playoff run, I don't think anyone needs to worry about his ability to perform on this stage. The Spurs really found themselves a gem.

Artest is built strong and is very physical on defense. He usually bullies his opposite. If Neal can hold his ground against Artest, he has the right stuff to succeed.

All I need to know about Neal is that when the B team played the Lakers, Phil put Kobe on him, not George, not JA.

I have 110% confidence in Neal. He will show up in the playoffs. He's just that type of player.

Game 1 of the season- I posted in the game thread that he was the best shooter the Spurs have had in the past decade. The guy hasn't let me down yet and I don't think he will.

We've had some damn fine shooters. We've also had some damn clutch shooters in Horry and Jack. Neither of them was a particularly GOOD three point shooter. Neal combines both good overall 3 point shooting and fearless shooting.

Even when he is cold he hustles and does the in between work and still manages to be of service. He doesn't seem affected by the big stage. He should farewell. If two other rotation players on the spurs had half his heart we'd be scary.

What I like about Neal is that if you run him off the 3pt line, he can step in and hit a mid-range jumper or drive to the basket and hit his little floater. What's surprising is that his free throw is not that good considering how good a shooter he is. And boy, can he put up points in a hurry (especially when it seems like everyone's cold).

Next to the big 3 being relatively healthy and rested, Neal has been the story this year. Between him and RJ, I think Neal's more capable and likely to bust loose with few 20+ games in the playoffs.
As far as dealing with the pressure, Neal did come through in the summer league when he had to - hitting an absurd number of 3s. That for him was the equivalent of do or die in the NBA. Here's hoping he continues in the playoffs.

Barring something really stupid, he should have a home in the NBA for a few years.

His performance against the Lakers last week was as good a sign as any how he'll do in the playoffs.

RMJ could only shoot. Neal can drive, shoot, pull up, and play better D.

In his interviews, is it just me, or does he have Tony Parker's voice without the accent?

He was 6/13 (2/4) for 16 points in 26 minutes with Kobe covering him.
