Memphis' stupid decisions have really benefited the Spurs..that's the 3rd stupid foul they've committed that has led to FTs..
Duncan needs to get the ball on every possession, I don't care if he misses..this team needs a paint presence, especially with Parker/Hill losing their balls, and Manu not playing..

Grizz not letting Spurs shoot 3s, 1 - 4
As long as the lane stays open we can manage to balance things out. Tony and George seem to be thinking a lot when they get in the paint while Tim is just finishing.

That's frustrating shit. No Manu and TP/Hill didn't do a damn thing right. If Parker shows up this should be a fairly routine victory but they gotta wake up.
Can always count on TD to bring his game up in the playoffs. Hopefully that continues and Parker/Manu get in a rhythm going forward. Win this game first though.

Memphis is completely open to exploitation at the 3 point line. They're cramming bodies into the paint. The Spurs have still done a good job inside, but the only reason they're not shooting more 3s is because they're attacking and not due to Memphis' D.

- Duncan looks great, obviously, hopefully he won't be tired in the 2nd half..
- Parker needs to match Conley in the 2nd half, he doesn't even have to outplay him IMO..George Hill is completely unpredictable, we've seen this too many times..Spurs advantage in the series is obviously their guard play, even with Manu out, so this is essential..
- All of Marc Gasol's points have come off the catch, obviously, since he can't create his own offense..a limited player shouldn't be scoring at will..to be fair, he shouldn't be making jump shots at the same rate, but they still need to contest..
- Blair was decent, a mixed bag..McDyess was shitty, Bonner was a non-factor..Blair and Bonner's production was expected, but Dice needs to be an above average contributor, they can't leave everything to Duncan..
- Since Bonner is going to play regardless, Pop should run 2-3 plays for him IMO..he needs to see a shot fall, Spurs need the outside to open up..

Attacking to the tune of less points in the paint than MEM and less FT's :lol?
There isn't space on the 3PT line this game. MEM is closing guys out and they are spaced almost perfectly defensively. They aren't doubling (except for very rarely), so their players can stay home on shooters.

RJ's play is getting a little overrated. He also was out of position on the very first play and had to be told repeatedly by Parker where to go. RJ gets lost on the little things, and in the playoffs, the little things matter.
Getting worked by 2 bigs and an active defense . . . MEM is like a homeless man's Lakers team. Imagine the Lakers working against the Spurs, what a nightmare.

The good thing is that SA is seeing the open guy streaking when Memphis tries to clog things up and whoever has the ball is able to drag 2 or 3 defenders with him out of the lane spreading things out.

Spurs are the number one seed, at home, in game one while being rested and they are down.
Call it what you will, but that isn't good.
Not only isn't the score what is important, but it's about how the half went. MEM imposed their will. They did what they did all year long. Spurs did not. Memphis is dictating what goes on.
The no Manu argument is moot, because he isn't suiting up this game. How about flipping the logic on you and saying "Tim playing the best he has all year and they are still down 2!".

If you're talking about Tiago, I don't know why. All the guy does is produce when we put him on the floor, but he's glued to the bench so Bonner can haul his sorry excuse for a vagina up and down the court for 20 minutes a game while Pop hopes in futility that he'll turn into a poor man's Robert Horry.

It's concerning that the Spurs are letting Memphis dictate the tempo and style of the game. That should not be the case with a 8th seed.
Still, if Tony/Dice wake up they should win this one. RJ needs to not let Shane Battier be a difference maker in this game.

:lol This isn't cliff jumping. It's giving credit to a MEM team that is playing very well. It is discussing the points that many of us made BEFORE the series started.
The Spurs can obviously do much better, but this start, this half, highlighted almost everything that people were worried about going into the series.
All I am doing is looking at what happened in the first half and commenting on it. That doesn't mean it's over or that it's all bad, but I don't just type "yahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" over and over because to me that is stupid.

Maybe Hill and Parker played so poorly because of Memphis. Conley was all over Parker.
And how about all of the dumb fouls and bailouts by Memphis plus foul trouble plus Allen going out with injury and they're still up on the road against the #1 seed, even though the franchise has never won a playoff game and this is the first playoffs for a good chunk of their players.

it was two jokes in one, Pop's quote on Hill in 2008, and Pop's quotes about players "getting over themselves".
