are you guys F'n kidding me!? LMAO :drunk <--- Spurs fans...
THIS IS DETROIT, NOT PHOENIX, MEMPHIS OR SEATTLE. Come on, you cannot be honest thinking this series is going 4 games? I will give you guys the edge right now, THINKING CLEARLY. It could go to either team in 6 or 7.
I would take Detroit playing their basketball at full strength over SA playing their game. Problem is DETROIT is playing like HELL right now.

Wow, I saw a different game, then. Detroit doesn't look all that great right now. Took lousy offense by Miami down the stretch (and a Wade-injury gimme Game 6) to even get here. AND it was lousy Miami offense, not Detroit's defense, that did it.
Anyway, I think most anybody would take the Spurs hitting on all cyllinders over Detroit at the same level. One team simply has a higher ceiling. Having two superstar calliber players doesn't hurt.

Man, people here are insanely overconfident. Just because the Spurs completely dismantled a soft Suns team doesn't mean they're going to bend the champs over the table even worse. With that said, I think the only way the Spurs don't take this series is if Tim gets hurt.

I'll totally disagree with the premise that Phoenix would beat Detroit. You saw what happened when Pheonix played a team that played real defense...they crumbled.
The pistons and Spurs are very similar teams, and both have a ton of experience. The matchups are tough for both teams, and this will be a more than competetive series.
RobinsontoDuncan
06-07-2005, 06:12 AM
Yeah but detroit isn't capable of scoring 121 pts in a game.... no way. Don't count me on the list of people who think Spurs in 4 (BTW this was a joke thread Sequ was just being funny) but I bilieve Phoenix would have beaten you guys quite quickly as they still scored in the hundreds 4 out of the 5 games we played.
DetroitFolly
06-07-2005, 06:27 AM
Actually, the Pistons have shown that when the other team plays NO DEFENSE AT ALL, they can indeed score that many. The fact is, the Pistons are a much better fast break team than people realize, and they defend the fast break better than anyone. The Suns simply wouldn't put up that many against Detroit. In the two games, the Pistons gave up 100 to them in Phoenix (a loss) and 80 at home (a win).
All I'm saying is don't underestimate the Pistons. We have left several teams (and their fans) in our wake. All of them scratch their heads and say "What Happened?"
The Pistons happened. They are united, talented, tough, and relentless. Dismiss them at your peril.

I wish I had enough optimism to say Spurs in 4, but knowing the Spurs they're certain to blow at least one game. Personally, I think the series will go to 7 with the Spurs getting the trophy. And personally, I hope I'm totally wrong and we can wrap this up with a sweep.

I think Spurs in 4 is a bit overconfident. These posters are most likely the same people who will jump ship after a spurs loss. The spurs looked great against Phoenix, but this Detroit team is much, much better.
Here's hoping that long layoff doesn't cost us our shooting touch in game 1.

Yes,
Please put down the peyote. You know the Pistons will not be swept.
We are not the paper tigers the media likes to portray us to be.
Sure we looked ugly at times against the Heat but they are a great team.
Anyone getting beat up by Shaq will be taken out of their game.
Wade is a star. He has some maturing to do but man is he an awesome player. I commend him for trying to play last night but i think he was a major liability to his team. In the third quarter he seemed to take the game over single handedly which left his teammates out of rhythm.
He didn't get the ball to Shaq in the 4th quarter. How can you not do that? I think he shot 0-8 in the 4th quarter.

Spurs in four? Look, I love the Spurs, same as most everyone here but come on. I believe they will win this series, but the reality this postseason is that with the exception of the Denver series (who the Pistons are much better than) the Spurs have yet to string together four really good games and they'll need very good games to win at all.

Actually, it will be Spurs in 3.75. After the Spurs are up by 20 at the "Palace" at the end of 3 some drunk fan will throw a $20 plastic cup of Bud Light at the Coyote (who just happened to be travelling with the team). After the Coyote delivers a righteous beatdown to the wrong fan in the stands he's ejected and leaves the stadium in the midst of a hail of cokes, beers, popcorn, and newborns. The game and series are called and the Larry O'Brien trophy will be presented to the Spurs on their charter just as they leave Michigan airspace...

If anyone was going to "wear us down" it was Shaq. He tried but we perseveered.(i know i probably mispelled that)
We have a very well conditioned team. Perhaps the most well conditioned player in the leage in Richard Hamilton. I expect Ben Wallace to have much better games now that he's not getting bullied around like a rag doll by Shaq.
You will see him fit more into the offensive flow and be much more active on the boards.

Even though I thought your prediction was very bold at the time, it is looking good right now.

be real. Spurs in 6...or 7.
The 1982 Lakers were swept the next year by the sixers and in 1989, the Lakers were swept once again by the Pistons...so it has been done before.

Fat chance that'll happen, holmes. And I am a Spurs fan who does NOT underestimate the Pistons. But you can bet your ass the actual Spurs team will be psyched to avenge those early season bullshit losses when they were anything but at full strength and cohesive. I think it'll be another dogfight in the Finals. Not gonna speculate who will win, but I will say with absolute certainty that a group of pro's pros like the San Antonio Spurs will not, repeat, NOT overlook Detroit. So you can squash that flicker of hope.
