for those who have watched the spurs all season long, this loss was no surprise.

- the grizzlies didn't have rudy gay during all the games against the spurs so they won't miss him
- grizzlies have elite perimeter defenders in allen and battier
- spurs' lack of defense in the regular season will come back to haunt them
- the spurs have an alarmingly thin front line: the grizzlies front line completely decimated the spurs, with gasol and randolph going a dizzying 19/25.
- grizzlies have nothing to lose and everything to gain, every win energizes them
- spurs lumbered down the stretch and carried that into the playoffs

for those expecting a 4-1 or 4-0 spurs win, think again. the grizzlies match up to the spurs extremely well and i would say are the third hardest opponents for the spurs in the west after the lakers and the mavs.

on the bright side. spurs have the team necessary to blow out the grizzlies but they lack the mentality. ginobili coming back should re energize them. if the spurs let the grizzlies hang around, they will make life miserable for the spurs. unfortunately, the spurs already showed their weakness and the grizzlies have pounced on it, providing them the confidence and energy needed to win some games back in memphis. spurs need to crush this in the coming games.
