Spurs in 6.

Manu sits, and Memphis plays the best game of their franchise history. Shooting 55% from the floor the entire game and their bigs dropped 50/25 on our frontcourt. Yet we still had a chance to win the game!!! It sucks and it's extremely frustrating but if you really think Memphis is going to win this series and your not named Charles Barkley....please....

Sure, they made some fluke shots... but at worse they would have shot 50%... on the road... it's just not acceptable...

They got pushed around for 48 minutes. Plain and simple. I get a little tired of the shot to the lower back and seeing guys flying out of bounds after a Memphis put back.

the 50/25 from the grizzlies is no fluke. the spurs don't have a front line capable of competing with them.

I don't think we can match them, but I think we can make it more competitive...

not panicking at all, however its sad to see our good players defend so well only to have others negate their efforts!! pop could make this so much easier.

This is the third time in a row the Spurs let the Grizzlies shoot 50+% and score over 100. Are the Spurs even capable? It doesn't , and hasn't, look like it. lol

NewJerSpur
04-17-2011, 04:03 PM
Well, at least we proved for a good amount of the game that we can hang with Grizz on the boards which seemed like an impossibility after the last few meetings. Hopefully our bigs can stay out of foul trouble on defense and bang Gasol and especially Z-bo around a little more. Keep them away from the basket and shooting perimeter jumpers like they were earleir in the game.

Memphis cant play better than what they did today and I dunno if they Spurs can play worse....I mean if this was a 5 game series than shiiit we may be in trouble.

But if Manu is OK, which he MUST be. Then the Spurs should be ok and win in 6.

I agree it's not panic time (yet), but Spur fan logic is hilarious. Memphis didn't do anything special with regards to playing outside themselves. They have a front court advantage. That isn't changing.

Spurs got a very solid game from Tim, shot more free throws they they could have hoped for, had the game at home vs a team that had not won a playoff game and they lost.

End of story.

Also, one of the BIG 3 has to take the team by the balls and try to dominate or take over. IMO we need a Tony Finals MVP performance or a 1st half Duncan performance for the entire game. Somebody has to take over this series for the Spurs.

But maybe when they found out Manu wasn't going to fight with them they kinda let down a little bit. All the players pointed to that Manu would play, and the only player I recall calling out Memphis was Duncan....

Ya Memphis called their shit....Shot 55% from the field, and beat a team without their All-Star player:rolleyes. I'm sure Memphis thinks they got this shit in the bag.. just like most of yall on here.

Spurs wont win a championship this year, but by NO means are we losing to an 8th seed.

No he didn't and thank GOD. But Rudy Gay has been done for months. I see where your going with this, but that aint happening. Gay is done for the season. Memphis was tanking when Manu still healthy, they wanted a healthy Spurs team. Just wait, they will get their wish.

If you need Ginobili to win a home game against Memphis, then the Spurs aren't as deep as you think they are. If your not the least bit nervous, then you don't have a pulse.

Its nice to see you using a Jon Barry quote after he's been slamming the Spurs all-season long.

I'm not sure the Spurs can physically exploit Memphis' weaknesses. If the Grizzlies' long balls are dropping all series Spurs are done.

Mugen

Panic? No.

But definitely concerned.

You can say MEM hit a lot of fluke shots but how many times have you said that this year about this team? A lot. There comes a point when you realize that it stops being fluke shots and its actually just shitty defense. When you give NBA players open shots, they're going to make it most of the time.

The Grizzlies imposed their will tonight and played their style of game. Pop didn't really make any adjustments aside from starting Blair in the 2nd and doubling Randolph/gasol when it was already too late. That's not a good sign that a 8th seed is dictating pace/style.

Spurs should be very worried and hope Manu comes back Game 2 and is a difference maker.

On a side note, it's really shocking that Memphis is able to be a really good team without a stretch 4. Shocking :rolleyes

Obstructed_View
04-17-2011, 10:55 PM
I predicted the Spurs in six, mainly because I didn't know the extent of Manu's injury. Hoping he comes back and all settles down. If the Spurs continue the combination of George Hill at point guard while on the floor with Parker, no Splitter on the front line, and no fast break / running game whatsoever, at least Memphis will put the Spurs away quickly so we can get on with the summer. Night all, see ya Wednesday.

Jeez people manu will not solve all the problems and btw. we do not know if he is gonna play Wednesday

Wasn't it the case last year vs Suns?
The Suns cannot play better ball. Well spurs as well could not do it

DeadlyDynasty
04-18-2011, 08:02 AM
Explain to me how the Grizzlies cannot play a better game?

-They were outrebounded (11-5 on the offensive glass to boot).
-They shot 63% from the FT line and choked there down the stretch
-They were whistled for 33 fouls, many of them being stupid, end-of-the-shot-clock-fouls
-They attempted 14 less free throws.
-They committed 16 turnovers, which led to 21 Spurs' points. By contrast the Spurs had only 10 turnovers which led to 10 Grizz points.

I'd say the Grizzlies have PLENTY of room for improvement.

04-18-2011, 08:04 AM
I am in a panic mood only because the Spurs coach and the coaching staff and seemingly the *stars and superstars does not see the obvious. They need to try to match up height for height more at least some portion of the game!

Parker, Manu and Duncan should be lobbying for Splitter or at least less Bonner and Blair. Time to panic is now.
